Peek a boo surprises

Image
I'm really aging myself when I say that I'm trying my best to keep up with my bonus baby. She lives with us twice a month and what a blessing she is...she's a cutie pie but BUSY!!!! She gets into things I don't even recall my daughters getting into. But, gotta love her, she loves the doggies and shares her crackers and other goodies with them. It's caused me to really look at how God showers me with peek a boo surprises....surprises that I didn't anticipate. My Boo is one of them. After my divorce, it was really hard for me to imagine finding someone to love and to be loved once again. My Boo is my knight in shining armor. He loves me JUST the way I am, flaws and all. It's no short of a miracle that we met when we did. We were introduced to one another by a friend who passed away recently from cancer. She told him, "You need to find yourself a wife" and of course, she made it happen that we would meet. That's why I consider it a peek a boo sur...

Ain't It Precious?

I finally figured out a way to get myself out of having to tell a small fib..you know the kind that you feel bad about...such as, "Do you like my hair?" or "Here's a picture of my baby girl, Precious Poopsie". From now on, my answer will always be something like, "Ain't it precious?" or "She's so precious?" I'm not much up on the southern slang but I figure if I can add just a slight twang to it, it will sound believable. So, today, I vow that when someone asks if I tasted their new fangled concoction that tasted like hay, I will say, "I sure did and it sure was precious!" Even one better, when I really want to make it sound believable, I'm going to add the word "SO" to it. For example, "Didn't you notice? I got a boob job?" My answer, "That's SO precious!" But while I'm on the subject, have you ever been straight out honest and told someone the truth? Like, for instance, the...

Be nice to bugs day

In honor of my son in law, Jonathan's birthday today, I've decided to set aside this day to 1) Hug a tree and 2) Be kind to bugs. That means no squishing or killing any kind of bug, including spiders. You see, Jonathan is the nicest guy a know when it comes to the environment and living things. It's sorta funny because my daughter, his wife, is deathly afraid of bugs. It never fails that as her and I are chatting on the phone, I am interrupted by a blood curdling scream! "Honey, it's a bug! A BIG bug! You have to get it! Quick, hurry!" Jonathan slowly goes over to where she's pointing and picks up the bug and calmly takes it outside. He's like the Steve Irwin of bugs. It may be a black widow but as he says, "If you don't hurt it, it won't hurt you!" He is also cautious of how the enviroment's health is. That means, recycled this and that's. He even does his part by not using plastic bags at the grocery store! Although I may ...

Color does matter sometimes

I didn't used to be so fiery but it seems like the older the get, the more passionate I get. When I for something, I'm really for it and when I'm irritated or have a pet peeve, I REALLY have a pet peeve. One of the biggest issues I've experienced in my life time is racism. No, this is not the time to insert "But some of my best friends are black" but a chance to hear what's running through my head. I was born in L.A. so the first three years, most of my peers were black. When I was four, my family moved to an area where we were minorities in every sense of the word. We (my sisters and I) were blessed to go to Christian schools from elementary school to high school. Yet, there, we were also minorities. Our black friends (from the church we attended still) made fun of us talking and sounding like we were "white" and we were often excluded from our white friends by their parents. One time, while on a field trip to a classmate's horse farm, the w...

Says who???

As much as I adore my Boo, I have discovered this about him...he likes to make up rules. He never says where the rule came from but whatever rule it is always begins with, "You're not supposed to..." Since we've been together for almost two years, I've discovered the following rules according to Boo: 1) You're not supposed to go out of the house (like to the mailbox or to the washer and dryer) without your keys in your pocket. 2) Dogs aren't supposed to sleep in the room with humans, walk in the kitchen, be held, wear cute t-shirts, have potty accidents. 'Cause it's the rule. 3) You're not supposed to lay anything on top of a Bible. 4) You're not supposed to put knives in the dishwater. 5) You're supposed to use the dishwasher as a dish drainer and not for washing dishes. 6) You're not supposed to answer the phone when you're eating. 7) You're not supposed to discipline little girls when they act up. Only boys. 8) You're...

That really happened 21 years ago??

My oldest baby turned 21 today. Married Boo is the greatest replica of something wonderful....me! Just kidding about me being wonderful but she really is. Honestly though, when she was a baby, well, wonderful wouldn't exactly describe her. She came into the world wanting the whole world to know. First off, she was almost born in the car. This kid wasn't waiting for nobody! I arrived at the hospital at 1:00 and 1:07 pm, there she was! Close call. But at least the labor was halfway doable. She resembled an Asian baby so for that reason, my ex went to the nursery and picked up the wrong baby, kissed, held and cradled it until the nurse pointed to the name tag and told him, "That's not yours...THIS one is yours!" To this day, we tease her that her name is really supposed to be Ling Ling Chung a Lung. The roller coaster ride became even more eventful. The kid got into everything. Never quite understood how one little being could empty out a jar of Vaseline in less ...

Precious isn't she??

At least one time I have to show off my babies. This is Selah Joy Jean. Yes, she has two middle names but it fits her to a T. She is the girly girl of all girls. She loves looking beautiful and being told she's beautiful. Now, if she can only get what "Go potty outside" means, then she'll make me a happy mommy!
