What I want to be when I grow up

As crazy as this may sound coming from a 45 year old, I sometimes wonder what I want to be when I grow up. When I was younger, I used to say I was going to be at teacher. Then, the dream expanded when my twin and I decided that we were going to marry honeys that would be able to afford a mansion that we'd all live in. They'd have the upstairs and we'd have the downstairs AND we'd adopt every kid that didn't have parents and every animal that didn't have homes. Gone are those days and of course, that dream never came to pass.

I looked at my talents and abilities and passions and I discovered that I have too many things on my plate. I adore writing and creating. I love babies and kids. I enjoy reaching out and helping people. I enjoy cooking. I'm fascinated by the medical field. Music is number one for making my day.

As old as I am, I'm searching myself with hopes that what I find will be a place of contentment. Where will I find my niche? Heaven only knows but hopefully, it's not in the form of a singing zoologist!

The comedian Paula Poundstone has a great line; she says adults are always asking kids what they want to be when they grow up because they're looking for ideas. I think there's something to that!

OOOHHHHH I'm fascinated by the medical field as well. After I got my degree in business I always thought I would go to nursing school.

LOL to Vegas Linda Lou!

I am right there with you. I have combined the nusing and business thing and I am just tired. Retiring sounds good to me but my bills don't agree.

Well, you are writing s book, and it is going to be GREAT! Youll then be a zillionaire and be able to adopt some more kids. Dream big, it can happen!!

I think you are amazing and an incredibly gifted writer!

I am right there with you! I don't see an opportunity to get back to school because of logistics but I don't see myself becoming a famous author and I'm too old for American Idol!

Linda Lou, Paula is right! With kids, their imaginations run wild. They want to be an astronaut one day and a dentist the next.

I really wish I had become a doctor. I find that I enjoy watching the ER type shows and Hopkins. I think the human body is artistic and creative.

Now that I'm back in school, I think about this all the time. Let me know what we both should be, ok?

Greetings from Costa Rica!

I think it is always good to stay in the learning mode. I love to learn new things.

That's all you are doing... learning new things.

I went to Law School six years ago and I'm still trying to figure out what to do with that. If I knew then what I know now I think I wouldn't have gone for it - opportunities to help people are rare with this giant pile of student debt. For now, I'm living in the now, trying not to worry about the future. I think focusing on what we have, practicing enjoying the things we do every day, is the key to a happy life. Easier said than done some days, but that's what I think.
