I Surrender, I Surrender!!!
Lots is going on...some okay, some not so okay. Honestly, there are those days when I feel like throwing up the white flag and saying, "I Surrender!"
I've got the "Snifflin, sneezing, I need to rest" crud. Don't worry though, I'm a good patient when I'm sick. I rarely complain unless I'm near unconsciousness! :) (Seriously, my daughters will attest to that one.) Just when I thought I was feeling a bit better, wham! I got ran over again...this time, it must've been by a little old lady in a scooter with germ cooties or something.
What makes me feel good when I've got the not so feel good blues? Top Ramen or Cream of Chicken Soup and a new discovery that I now like quite a bit...
Ginger Ale Green Tea
It reminds me of when I was a little girl and my mom's "remedy" was lemon tea (boiled sliced lemons) and honey. At the slightest sniff or wheeze, we'd be sent to bed with the anticipation of drinking the tea "while it was hot".
Another thing that my mom was good for was slathering Vicks's Vapor Rub all over the chest and then putting 10 billion blankets on me so I could "sweat it out". I didn't feel like I was sweating, I felt like I was being overcome by the vapor fumes. To this day, I sweat when I smell Vick's Vapor Rub.
Then, don't think she didn't mix healthy remedies with the medicinal remedies....cod liver oil! Blechhhhhhh!! I don't know what person came up with the idea that a teaspoon of cod liver oil mixed in a cup of orange juice would fix what ailed me. If anything, it made it worse. The taste of the cod liver oil stayed in my system for hours, only to burp and reminisce about it all over again.
I do admit that one of the best things about being twins was knowing that my twin sister would end up sick too. That meant having company in the "sick room". We'd read books and sleep and then tell jokes and play with our stuffed animals and then when we were feeling a bit better, jump on the beds until we heard footsteps coming down the hallway, then it was back to laying down "being sick".
What are your childhood memories of when you were sick?

No wonder I still hate to go to the doctor.
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Mean germs going 'round.
For a cold, echinacaea works for me and/or hot lemon tea with honey.
I hope you feel better soon, Simone.
I heard warm water, honey and tbs. apple cider vinegar helps. Feel better Simone!
Ain't it a wonder we all survived!?!LOL
When you're congested, you should cut back on dairy or creamy things because they produce mucous. Think clear liquids. ;)
Get to feelin' better and may God touch you with His healin' power!!!
Feel better soon!
Also I mix lemon and honey in hot water and sip it for relief. Works wonders.
I envy for the twin you had. The biggest disaster in my life has been me being without a twin... Sigh!
My mom always did the vicks rub and the towels too. UGH
I remember getting a bell by my bed that I could ring when I needed her. I would love to ring that bell now.

I remember those Vick's vapor rubs too well yet I still use them with my kids when their chest congestion or stuffy noses won't work with other meds. Other than good old fashioned chicken noodle soup and plenty of Otter Pops, being sick wasn't so bad.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Get well soon! xoxo
