I've Been Acked and Phoosed

I'm going to go out on a limb and make up my own definitions for these words. They are words that I discovered through word verification and I decided that I was going to use them.

Lately, I've been acked (Simone's definition - filled with mixed emotions from surprised wordlessness to a sudden urge to go for a drive or eat a slice of cheesecake.) I'm glad that my Boos guest posted for me because, 1) They did great and 2) I needed to step back for a moment. Thanks to all of you for your sweet words to the both of them.

The endless job search often brings me to being acked. I never expected the helplessness to hit me so hard. I refuse to give in to the fear that has woken me up the last three nights out of a dead sleep. I know that God has a plan for me and I'm trying so hard to be patient and wait.

But the greatest feeling is being phoosed. (Simone's definition - surprised when you least expect it...similar to walking and finding a dollar on the ground.) I was phoosed this morning when I got a call from a jazz radio station telling me that I was the grand prize winner of a 15 week Jazz Concert Summer Series in Newport Beach. That's two free tickets for some great jazz artists and all for free! I thanked God right then for phoosing me. I also had another phoos when my dog brought in his gift of a dead bird and laid it on the kitchen floor. Now THAT'S one phoos that I'd rather not receive.

Have you been acked and phoosed? If so, please share!

I was phoosed when my son got his college acceptance this week just when we needed it!

See, I would think the gift of a dead bird is "acked" more than "phoosed". But, hey, I gotta give the dog credit for knowing when you were down and he brought you a little gift. Okay, that's all he could find--I think it is still sweet. :)

I'm sorry that you have been so down. I've got to tell you that even those of us with jobs are still feeling the weight of this economy. It has just been awful for too long now.

I sat there today, listening to a co-worker pour his heart out to me about how they expect him to take on more responsibility, but yet not go over his already stretched 40 hour week. They refuse to pay him for more than his 40 hours, but he still had better do more in that time frame. (He's the property manager/maintenance supervisor) So, he felt like he couldn't win. It's tough for everyone these days is all I'm saying.

Hang in there, pally. Keep your head together and thank the dog. He meant well.

So glad you were phoosed. Congrats on the win. What fun words! I shall add them to my list which includes confuzzle, snirt and smushables.

Hang in there, Simone!!

You come up with the cutest definitions! :)

I was phoosed that my husband brought home yet more bags of M&M's when I was craving for something sweet, but didn't want to call and tell him to get me some on the way home. Somehow my attempt at resisting temptation was futile. I was phoosed. :)

You are so cool. Love you definitions. I'm often Acked. Lately in a constant state of Ack. I think it's anxiety over my proposals being out so I feel you here. I'd like to be Phoosed.

My hips and cheesecake are proof I've been acked countless times Simone! Ha! I love that.

But seriously, I know how stressful being out work is and I am so sorry you are struggling to find a new job. Having had the pleasure of meeting you in person, I know for a fact that your would be a great asset to any company.

Hopefully your jazz tickets "phoosing" is a sign that the tides are turning and your new job is inches away. I'm saying prayers and crossing my fingers for you.

This was a great post Simone. I'll stop complaining about word verification and start looking for new words to best describe my actions and/or emotions.

Hang in there,
xo jj

You are so cool, my friend. I'm phoosed by you today! And...some days I find myself acked - that's for sure. Yesterday one of my word verifications was "billism" and I knew as I typed it that a new word had been birthed into my life!

Lately, I've been acked more than phoosed.

Do you know the word, "dauncy?" According to Lucy Ricardo, that's a word her grandmother made up for when nothing's really wrong, but you just feel blah.

And I'm not sure, but I think I invented the word "yardsaling." The first time I said it at work, everybody laughed, but it caught on, and then my friend Nancy told her sister in PA; now I ear it everywhere!

Probably coincidence, but I like to think it was mine!

I'm phoosed because I love hearing Lauren tell me how much she loves me.

I'm acked because Kassidy is an endless preteen struggle.
