Lessons I've Learned from Hanging with My 21 and 23 Year Old Daughters

Thank you for all the great happy birthday wishes for my baby girl. She had a wonderful 21st birthday. Her and her sis and I had a girls only slumber party at a hotel here in my area. I was flattered that Single Boo was willing to spend her birthday with me, her mom instead of hanging with her young friends. But, I'm thrilled that I was included. I learned so much from the two of them.

I don't know how they do it but they can eat and then an hour later, they are both hungry again. If you've seen my girls, you know that they are both very tiny. I'm here to say that they do EAT and they eat a lot. Single Boo and I polished off a medium pizza (4 slices a piece) because we didn't want it to go to waste. How much you want to bet that it went straight to my butt and thighs and she probably coughed and the pounds disintegrated.

When the snoring gets too tough, sleep in the bathtub. Married Boo disappeared in the middle of the night, only to find her sound asleep, blanket and pillow, in the tub. She said that I was keeping her awake with my snoring. I sure wish I could've snapped a picture of that one...it was hilarious!

Reading the memories from a baby book of a daughter who is now 21 was not only fun, insightful but cherished. I thought it was would be corny to bring her baby book to the hotel room but they both loved it.

Whoever marries my 21 year old must bring a dowry of a slab of bacon. She is a bit on the excessive side for bacon. (But in a good way.)

They are both backseat drivers. (No further explanation needed).

Bugs will make Married Boo climb up on a table in 0.2 seconds. She will then refuse to climb down until Single Boo has shooed the bug away and told her that "All is clear".

You can be 21 but little things like Fun Dip will put a smile on your face.

Hanging around them is like having a dual voice of reason always whispering in my ear. I so wanted to get into some mischief but I was given the look by both of them even before I went there.

I can't wait until my birthday. I would love to do it again but maybe this time, celebrate with my twin sis and her two girls as well. At least, her and I can get into trouble together.

Have you done a girls sleepover for you and your daughters or friends?

That sounds like a wonderful time with your daughters. My girl is 17and a bit prickly these days. I hope with a bit of maturity under her belt we'll be able to do something like that one day.

I am too antsy for a full evening event with my friends even though I love them dearly. I do enjoy a nice dinner out with some hot topics to dish over!!

Backseat SCREAMING is what I am all about! I cannot ride with my husband without screaming, his driving makes me so scared. I do not know how he and his car get from Point A to Point B every day, he is a terrible tailgater!

Fun post, Simone. xoxoxo

Hahaha! I thought people only slept in the bathtub in cartoons, lol! That must have been uncomfortable.

Glad your two girls kept you in line - didn't want you to be the next out of control Lindsey Lohan! LOL Fun and a precious memory!! I remember those days of having a metabolism that actually worked. Your girls are beautiful and yes they are skinny. It's just not fair!! . . ."slept in the bathtub"! LOL

Oh Man, the thought of doing sleepovers at all for my 4 year old makes me cringe, all those kids running around and me not having the energy to keep up with just one!

What a great way to celebrate. I love fun dip!! Nothing better then having a beautiful relationship with your daughters.

Never ever done this, probably because it's not been a Brit thing until recently and also I have no-one to do it with, both my boys would rather eat their own fingers than have a sleepover with their mum!

What's a fun dip?

My little is only eight, but we are planning a big "It's Summertime" sleepover for Sloane and four of her best friends. Boy, oh boy, are they excited about it.
