My Sense of Humor

Okay..I have what most people call, a cast iron stomach, I very rarely throw up. In fact, I can't even recall the last time I did. But that's not what this post is about.

I love salsa. I was raised on salsa...the hotter the better. In fact, my mom made the salsa so hot, we'd make sure there was kleenex on the table for the runny noses and the sweats.

I forget that my salsa is not for the faint at heart and trust me, I do try to tone it down. Tone it down means, two jalapenos and not three or four.

I made salsa today with nectarines. I only used two jalapenos. I asked Boo to taste it and to let me know if I needed to make it hotter. He said, "It's up to you." I decided to let the flavors blend in the fridge for a few hours before I added more peppers.

Boo decided to snack on salsa while watching football. With the keen hearing that I have, I noticed that he was coughing like, ummm, every 5 seconds. I started to call out, "Are you okay in there?" but instead..he came in with the bowl and chips and dumped it into the sink. He said, "This is WAY too hot. I think my taste buds just melted off of my tongue."

I couldn't help it. I got a bit tickled. No, I actually cracked up. Here is this big burly man running for the water. I laughed quietly and then offered him a glass of milk.

One thing for sure, I haven't lost my sense of humor!

So good to "hear" you laugh!

I like my salsa very hot, too; in fact, I like just about anything with a side of hot sauce or peppers. I remember the first time I met my (now) son-in-law. I had fixed a huge meal, including my delicious fried chicken. I was deeply insulted when he asked for hot sauce and smothered his chicken in it! Now...guess what? I love my chicken with hot sauce!

Yum...the nectarines sound incredible in salsa! I'm going to try that next time; maybe I'll make a big bowl like that...and another with extra peppers for myself and SIL.

Poor Boo. I can just see him gagging and tearing up. But it sure made for a great story!

That is funny! I like the idea of nectarines in it. I just came back from PA, and while there I bought some pineapple salsa. It's very good too!

Ha ha! Sorry for Boo, but I bet that salsa was delicious! I love fruit salsas and chutneys. And yep, you're right - the spicier the better! My favorite is a mango chipotle from Trader Joes.

This must have been payback for him disliking the way you cooked the chicken the other night.

This made me think of one of my first memories of Builderman. We worked in the same factory and one day at lunch someone offered him and another guy hot pepper (not sure what kind). Builderman took a big bite turned red, broke out in a sweat, and dove under the water cooler. One of the funniest things I've ever seen!

Kleenex and the table is a hoot!

I'm a total wimp--or at least my stomach is. I can't do the hot stuff anymore. Heck, I can barely do "mild" salsa-- and if it's mild, what's the point :-)

Salsa has to be hot or it isn't salsa. Bring it on -- sure makes me want Mexican food today.

Hehehhee!! That's funny! I will remember to never accept salsa from you--I'm a big baby when it comes to spicy stuff. :o)

Oh, wow! It must be REALLY hot stuff!! I planted a couple of pepper plants this summer, so I'm gonna have a LOT of peppers to share. I may have to send them to you. :)

Oh NO!! I am such a whimp, table pepper is too hot for me. Just smelling your salsa would have set my eyes and nose to watering!! Your poor husband!

What a girly man! hahahah! Can't handle the heat so he best stay out of the kitchen next time! ;)

I'm so glad that you haven't lost your sense of humor either! And that your taste buds are as hot as you are! :)

Good luck with the job situation and dealing with the stress that goes along with it, btw. I'm thinking of you!
