When The Router Fries

I didn't realize how attached I was to my computer and the internet UNTIL the router fried. The technical support lady was gracious enough to ship out another but not until two days later.

Both my daughter and I watch tv shows on our computers since we don't have cable. We have an antenna but only get some of the channels but not all. We also use Instant Netflix, which is also an internet goody....so...

Without anything else to do, I amused myself by thinking about the lyrics to You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. I am so impressed that Dr. Seuss got by with saying all sorts of mean things about the Grouchy Grinch without having to use a single curse word. Some of these, I think I may even use. I like, "stink, stank, stunk".

Which phrase do you like?

You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch

You're a mean one, Mister Grinch
You really are a heel,
You're as cuddly as a cactus, you're as charming as an eel, Mister Grinch,

You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel!

You're a monster, Mister Grinch,
Your heart's an empty hole,
Your brain is full of spiders, you've got garlic in your soul, Mister Grinch,

I wouldn't touch you with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!

You're a vile one, Mister Grinch,
You have termites in your smile,
You have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile, Mister Grinch,

Given a choice between the two of you I'd take the ... seasick crocodile!

You nauseate me, Mister Grinch,
With a nauseous super "naus",
You're a crooked dirty jockey and you drive a crooked hoss, Mister Grinch,

You're a three decker sauerkraut and toadstool sandwich, with arsenic sauce!

You're a foul one, Mister Grinch,
You're a nasty wasty skunk,
Your heart is full of unwashed socks, your soul is full of gunk, Mister Grinch,

The three words that describe you are as follows, and I quote, "Stink, Stank, Stunk!"

You're a rotter, Mister Grinch,
You're the king of sinful sots,
Your heart's a dead tomato splotched with moldy purple spots, Mister Grinch,

Your soul is an appalling dump heap overflowing with the most disgraceful assortment of rubbish imaginable, mangled up in tangled up knots!

I would have a real problem if my router went out too. Glad you got it fixed.
I like the phrase:
Your brain is full of spiders, you've got garlic in your soul!
Stink, stank, stunk is also good.

Oh the things we discover when we are forced to. :)

Glad you're back with us!!!

I guess I never really knew what the words said. I'm impressed.

Perhaps eliminating cursing would require too much creativity and thought for some.

Some of those phrases would have come in handy when responding to a teen.

I am glad you're back!

How is your job going?

Good ole Dr. Seuss. I wish I could think of words today for someone I'm having a problem with without resorting to cuss words.

My internet went down this week too and I thought I'd die!!! I was soooo lost!

I agree, being without a modem or computer is very trying indeed, and this is a cute post.

I always feel so disconnected without my computer! Glad you found something to amuse yourself with... but did it have to be the song to You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch? Now it's stuck in my head! Hahaha...

Glad you're back!

Don't you JUST HATE when that happens? My brother in law just did a wedding ceremony using Dr. Seuss and I am dying to know what he said. I like, "cuddly as a cactus".

I had no idea those were the "real" words. I wonder what the heck I've actually been singing all these years....

"You're a crooked dirty jockey and you drive a crooked hoss, Mister Grinch...." I know i NEVER said that :-)

Glad your system is back up and running.

Oh, I had that happen to me once and my husband was on a business trip. I thought I would just about go nuts not being able to get online!

It's actually a bit scary how much we've come to rely on our "connection."

Hi Simone! I'll wait for a moment while you pick yourself up from the floor. I know it's been a long time. And I apologize, but things with my mom's health aren't good any longer. Oy.

I'm a huge Seuss fan and own all of his books. They did a great job with this movie, didn't they?

I like "nasty wasty skunk".

By the way....in my personal experience, a little salt and pepper with just a dash of ketchup will make the fried router all it can be. I'm helpful like that.

That was so much fun to see it all spelled out like that. I love how creatively "clean" the song is. :)

Yep, he's a mean one that Mr. Grinch! I had a virus come through on a friend request on facebook this mornin'. Dang, if it didn't take the good part of a day to get everything up and goin' again. I'm settin' a trap for that Mr. Grinch!!!

Meanwhile...I'm makin' fudge! :o)

God bless you sweetie and have a wonderful day.

I dread, dread, dread ever having to hook up another router. I have two. One is a line based router. The other one, sitting in the box, is a WIRELESS! I could even operate my printer from the garage if I wanted to. But coward that I am, I'm leaving it in the box and hoping the day never comes when it's a necessity to hook it up.

I keep hearing about people watching TV over the interent..how do you do that? Meaning, what websites or service do you use to view TV shows online? I'd love to know. Thanks!!!!

You know what's funny is that I've heard that song over and over throughout the years but never actally took the time to read the lyrics. You can really sense the despise in every single word!!!!

My kids love the "stink, stank, stunk" part too!!!

I think so much can be said without swearing.

'You have termites in your smile.'

If someone said this to me I think I would take more offense than a swear word!

Ok the fact that you even know all the words impresses the heck out of me. I like "You have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile". Can you even imagine one of those????
