Meltdown - Simone Style

This may actually be more funny as time goes on but at the moment, I'm not amused. I had an appointment this morning with the surgeon that will be doing the long awaited surgery. This appointment was like gold because it represented the medical nightmares hopefully, finally, coming to a close.

I stayed the night at my daughter and son-in-law's house because of the distance of the hospital from my house. When I got to their house, I noticed what looked like mud on my shoe so I took them off and parked them by the door.

Heading to the appointment this morning, I slipped on the shoes, to discover that the bottoms of both shoes were cracked and coming apart. Not having another pair packed, I decided to chance it. Walking from the parking lot to the entrance, I began to lose chunks of my shoes. The hospital was gorgeously decorated and clean inside and as I walked, I left brown chunks behind. I checked in and turned to walk to my seat and there were scattered brown shoe debris all over the floor. There was a lady sitting down who literally raised her eyebrows at me and then looked down at my feet. I was so mortified, I wanted to cry. I tried to look inconspicuous as I looked at what was left of my shoes. It looked like Godzilla vs the Grand Canyon! So, I took off my shoes, right when the nurse called my name. I tripped over a shoe chunk and tried to hold it together. Debris littered the examining room (the shoes had some sort of cushion inside that resembled brown foam). I grabbed an enveloped and started to sweep the chunks with the edge, under the chair.

Then the doctor came in. I tried to focus but all I heard was "cut into the esophagus", "cut into the stomach" "liquid diet for two weeks"...yada yada yada.

I drove home barefooted with tears running down my face. After the meltdown was over, I tried to find a consolation to all of this. The best one I could come up with was that I am DEFINITELY eating some Ben and Jerry's ice cream after this is over and done with! I've earned it!

Oh my- I think I would have had some kind of meltdown, too. Can you take those shoes back for a refund? At least you got a nice treat out of it!

You know what - I would have had a meltdown too! On the other hand, I know this story is going to get funnier as the years go by, so I'm glad you have a good sense of humor.
Glad you finally had an appointment and are moving forward with surgery.

That's a good one, Simone! How do you manage to get yourself in such a pickle. In your previous post, you listed your shortcomings. Well, you certainly are NOT boring! :)

I missed the surgery post - if you did one. Keep us informed. Blessings.

I'm sure after that appointment you probably felt like those shoes, eh? I know I would have.

I'm sorry that you are having health issues. It is so scary to hurt or to have surgery, but take each moment one at a time. I'm sending prayers and hugs for a scary time.

Now, the shoes. WHAT THE HECK???! Why were they falling apart?? I think I would have been cracking up. I mean, there's no use crying, right?

Hang in there, pally!

Oh baby!!! I so get it. I donned a pair of Clark's leather sandals last summer and headed out for evenin' services at church.

I felt my shoes becomin' 'soft' and low and behold I saw big cracks in the soles and they began to chunk out. By the time I got home I barely had soles to walk on. I could of melted right then and there.

Yep, it's gonna take ice cream for sure to get your 'cool' on! Heeehehehe!

Know my heart and prayers are with ya Miss Simone. Please keep us updated 'K'?

God bless and have a beautiful day sweetie! :o)
