Things I've Learned Thursday

1) Some people don't mind cute nicknames for their loved ones. The most recent one that has left me with my mouth hanging open is "Sugar Balls". Can you imagine her calling for him while at the grocery store? "Sugar Balls, can you grab a carton of eggs for me please?"

2) I think a rainy day boot camp is in order for my two puppies. They seem to think that they are privileged and refuse to go potty outside when it's raining. I've even tried standing outside and using the psychology method on them. "Gee, it's so nice playing in the rain...." They just look at me from inside and shake their heads.

3) It's not wrong to cheer when something burns down, especially if it's a strip club AND no one was injured.

4) Total shock is shopping at a thrift store and seeing a 4 month old baby lying on the floor under the belts while the mom talked on her cell phone about 5 feet away. The baby could barely hold it's head up and was laying on the bare, filthy floor. I could only shake my head and feel incredibly sorry for the baby.

5) Mistakes are easily made BUT one where a tall man ends up in our kitchen at 8:30 AM, after letting himself in, only to be discovered by my daughter as she came downstairs is not cool. Thankfully, he had a gas man uniform on BUT also thankfully, she didn't run back up to get me and my "trusty friend". *Note-It was an error on the CSR of the gas company who wrote up the wrong address and with a note that said, "Access by key entry." She apologized profusely. Locks are being changed to be on the safe side.

6) The greatest showing of trust in a friendship is being told a secret that no one else knows.

7) Since I no longer have my piano, it never fails that I wake up with a melody running through my head.

8) Heaven just welcomed a wonderful man, Roy this morning. I can just imagine the partying that's going on. Yet, my heart is crying for his beautiful wife and family. My prayers are with Lilly and her family.

9) I was mysteriously cure of a cold by eating homemade egg drop soup. I'm going to have to keep some on standby throughout the winter.

10) This little video never fails to put a smile on my face.

What have you learned?

Oh my goodness, I had comments to make about your things you've leaarned...until I watched the video!!!! Can you say hilarious?

Okay, seriously, I thought I had heard the worst nicknames, but you've topped me. the worst I've ever heard were a father and son - Big Peter and Little Peter.

That nickname is just horrid, and the baby on the floor is just not good!!!

I'm glad you have a "trusty friend", Simone. One never knows when it will be needed!

OMgoodness glory girl, 'Sugar Balls'???? Just fan me now 'cause I'm dyin' of laughter here.

Baby on the floor just breaks my heart. Some parents just don't deserve their little blessings.

The video was the best! I learned I needed that good laugh this afternoon. It's been one of THOSE days.

May God bless your day sweetie!!!

Hi Simone, I will say a prayer for your friend Roy.

And i'll pray for the tiny baby on the dirty floor. Sheesh. What's wrong with people these days.

I've learned to never, EVER, mention "going back to Florida" to a man who would happily shove both of us in a package full of postage, have us loaded in the hold of a UPS plane, if it meant getting there quicker.

That man in your house would have freaked me out!

I've learned that it's great to get together with girl friends and have a nice long lunch once in a while. :)

I'm going to have to try that egg drop soup. My 4 year old has been in preschool for less than two weeks and has her first cold already. It's gonna be a long year!

A man in your house uninvited?!?! That would have done me in for the day. And Sugar Balls?!?! What is going on in your new town???

Alan ROCKS! I love Marcel's dog. :)

Nicknames are rarely good, but that is the worst one I've ever heard!

Hahahaha love that video. Going to send that to some of my friends who need cheering up.

I never had a nickname but always wanted one.

I like this Thursday thing. I think I need to start doing more like that again on my blog, it a bit boring at the moment.

and Sugar Balls? WTH?

My dog is 6 years old and still hates to potty in the rain. is it bad that most of the time I go out there with him and an umbrella? I love him, what can I say?

I've learned that age three is probably going to be worse than age two. Sigh!

I've learned that I am a quitter but that's okay. Especially if me quitting my challenge leads to something I really want to do/achieve.

Sugar balls? seriously? Lol.

Wow on that gas man!? I would have FREAKED! Your daughter could probably write a guest post on that incident.... yikes!

I like your # 6 - ;-) wink, wink.

That video was fantastic! "We won't fight unless we're provoked."
:-)
"Sugar Balls" seems like more of an in-the-house kind of nickname, doesn't it? :-)

OMGoodness, that video is precious!!! I love the little shell's voice...it totally put a smile on my face too!!!!

Sugar Balls?! Yeah that's pretty bad.

I'm with you on feeling bad for that baby. Could you imagine what her home must look like and how she treats that baby at home if she's comfortable putting him on the bare floor of a thrift store??? Sigh....

And the gas man letting himself in???!!! Oh wow, that would freak me out!!!!!!

Debbie said...

First of all, Sugar Balls? Are you serious? That's the funniest thing I've ever heard.
Secondly, the baby on the floor is grossing me out.

OMG, that video is precious! My grandkids loved it too.

That's hilarious about the stranger showing up in your kitchen! Well, I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but how bizarre!

Another great list as always, Simone!

#4 - What a terrible mom! What was she thinking?
