Things I've Learned Thursday

1) I'm already feeling sad that I will have to take the Christmas tree down after the New Year. Single Boo and I named our tree, Chubster and we have fallen in love.

2) Christmas time can be the loneliest time of the year.

3) I usually find one Christmas song that I love and play it over and over again. This year, the song is My Christmas Prayer by BeBe Winans and Rob Thomas.

4) I just don't get the purpose of fruitcake. In fact, I've never met a fruitcake I've liked and I think I'll keep it that way.

5) This brought smiles to my face this week. Princess Vivian and her beautiful and talented mommy, Mandy loving the picture I painted for her. I've also learned that you if you click here, you will be able to order one of the best cookbooks ever, written by Mandy.

6) I miss Christmas caroling! In elementary school, we'd get on a bus and go Christmas caroling to all of the teachers houses. The last stop was for a hot cup of cocoa. So much fun!!

7) I'm so very thankful for my daughters for talking me off a ledge when I'm having a meltdown. I owe them both, big time!

8) The movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" truly puts things in perspective for me.

9) Sock snow people are the cutest but, the next time I will use stuffing instead of rice. They've all sprung leaks.

10) Hanging Christmas lights outside when it's raining is not only dumb but also shorts out the lights.

Merry Christmas to all of you. May your time spent with loved ones be full of laughter and happiness.

What have you learned?

Merry Christmas Sweetie...
Oh what a beautiful share this evening. I have so enjoyed blogging and sharing with you this year. You have picked me up more times than I can count. I am so honored that you allow me to call you friend.

Love the tree sweetie and Chubster fits to a "T". Love it. I can see why you hate to take it down as well.

Your painting that you did is so totally awesome. I didn't know that you could paint. What a beautiful job sweet friend. You are a woman of so many talents.

Have a wonderful CHRISTmas. May God richly bless you and your family this beautiful CHRISTmas season.

Many hugs and so much love, Sherry

Thank you for your comments!

I have learned that there are more painful things than not having a home that looks exactly like you would like.
A new group just started for people ending relationships (mainly divorce) and I am helping to facilitate it.
It puts things back in perspective as I remember back to how lonely and painful holidays alone can be.

I also learned that you can meet a new friend without ever really meeting.
I am glad I have come across you.
You are an inspiration and ray of hope and optimism to all who interact with you!

Happy Holidays!

Was that painting done freehand? If so, you're more marvelous that I first thought. If it wasn't freehand, you're more thoughtfully marvelous than I first thought.

In southern Indiana, we never stuff anything with rice. We just end up with overly fat winter mice.

Merry Christmas!
I've learned that I wish more people would simply say "Happy Holidays" and be more respectful of people who celebrate different things this time of the year...I've also learned fruitcake is gross, and that I much prefer pumpkin pie. Oh, and that my waistline is expanding.

I know I'm not really getting my wishes in on time. The truth is, it's just after midnight, but I still had to come by and wish you the merriest Christmas season ever. I want to thank you for making my life richer by sharing your blog and by reading mine. You are a blessing to me. Merry, merry Christmas, my frined. May the coming week bring you laughter, joy, short returns lines, and lots of good deals at the after-Christmas sales. ;^) Much love, Relyn

Loving that you named your tree! Girl I'm so ready to take down my tree though. It was up the week of Thanksgiving so I'm over it. LOL

Hi Simone, I don't know how I missed this post-- Sorry I'm so late.

What a beautiful mantle filled with your snowman collection. Love that!

I always wanted to hang lights for the holidays but it's still on my "to-do" list. I'll keep the rain problem in mind if I ever get motivated enough to do it.

Hope your Christmas was great. Wishing you and your girls a wonderful 2011.

Cheers, jj

Christmas can go either way, can't it? I mean, you can either be really happy or it can make you really depressed. It's a tough time of year. I never cared for New Year's because there is just too much pressure to have "fun". Ugh.

I had no idea you painted! That's beautiful. Happy New Year to You!

Chubster is ADORABLE and the perfect name! I hope you can find his twin net year!
About fruitcake - one of my favorite moments from Johnny Carson's many monologues was when he said that there was actually only one fruitcake in the whole world - people just kept sending it to one person and the next! My persoanl feeling is that not only is it a horrific blend of too much EVERYTHING, but for the calories, I could eat a whole plate of chcolate chip cookies!
I've learned that
1) Of all the things I missed when I took my sabbatic al from blogging, your "Things I've Learned" tops the list.
2) Working into Christmas morning isn't so bad when you're working with people you love.
3) Dogs will help you type up your posts given the slightest opportunity.
4) Trying to do anything creative is impossible when your husband is home.

By the way, I loved your grown-up Christmas List. That pooper scooper would be on mine too!

If I commented on each item, I'd be here a LONG time, and I really need to get off the computer now. :)
Soooo, I'll just say that I loved the post. I'm late reading it and could not get the video to play. Sorry I missed it.
Like all the others, I love the painting and wish you a surprise that stems from your talent.
Went over to Mandy's. Seems a nice blog to follow.
