Things I've Learned Thursday...I mean...Friday

1) The greatest surprise that didn't cost God a cent was to wake up this morning thinking it was Wednesday only to discover that it was Thursday. One step closer to the weekend.

2)The only one sad to see the Christmas tree gone was the kitty.

3) It was hard not to get over stimulated while at Buffalo Wild Wings with all of the many big screens playing different sporting events at the same time. Then, of course, different tables were cheering for different sporting events which made it even more intense.

4) I have decided that when I stress eat, the crunchier the food the better...chips, peanuts, pretzels.....so I've decided I'm going to do myself a huge favor and crunch on a tree branch instead. I won't swallow it, I'll just crunch and spit it out. Is anyone else game on trying this?

5) I totally, I mean, totally, hate when a date calls me, "young lady". It makes me feel like a kid. Also, add "Girl" to that one too. It's just not in the dating dictionary.

6) I got all sentimental talking about my daughter, Single Boo getting married and she isn't even engaged. The more we talked about the ceremony and the reception, I wanted it to really be true.

7) Cutting doggy toe nails is best left to a professional. I seriously thought I was going to have to give my Sam a blood transfusion.

8) I got the greatest gag gift from my mom in the mail...some pecans, Now or Laters, Chick O Stick, Jawbreakers, Bit O honey and more. Sure brought back some sweet memories.

9) The greatest feeling in the world is hearing or having someone tell you that they were thinking of you. Out of all the people that could be thought of, to know that I am being thought of is precious to me.

10) Never have a coughing fit when holding a full glass of wine.

What have you learned?

I love the crunchy stuff in times of stress, too, so I'm game for giving the tree branch diet a go!

Poor puppy! I don't do nails, mostly because three grown people can't hold the hound down to do it. I did try once to give the poodle a haircut. I snipped his chest...literally peeled the skin off down to the muscle. It was HORRIBLE! He didn't bleed at all, though, and Band-aid had just come out with liquid bandages. I got a bottle of that and glued him back together...and made an appointment with the groomer.

I stress eat on ANYTHING, so, no thanks, I won't be joining you on your tree gnawing quest. Maybe Euell Gibbons?
I learned that:
1) Even when you get the flu shot, you can still get the flu - just a different strain from BOTH the ones you've been vaccinated against.
2) Cough syrup with codeine to help you sleep when you have the flu doesn't do crap. It's gonna take some dynamite to knock this stuff out.
3) Even with something like 90 channels, there's nothing to watch at 3am.
4) When you feel terrible, time stands still and night NEVER ends.
5) Before Dick York left Bewitched, he was beginning to look very gaunt.
6) That commercial with the maimed and abandoned animals and the Sarah McLaughlin song still makes me cry every time.
7) The Christmas tree doesn't care if you want to leave it up til February.
8) An amorous husband may take out the garbage, bring you soup in bed, and hand you the remote when you're sick, but he still expects to be "paid" at night.
9) A look that can kill is enough to make an amorous husband go to bed by himself.
10) A bedfull of dogs is great comfort...and warmth...when you're feverish.

Good luck with that tree branch!!
I gave up on the dogs nails years ago, either the vet or groomer does it. Great advice. Have a nice weekend. I bet your glad it's Friday!

Oh poor Ethelmae isn't feelin' well at all.

Words like Honey, Sweetie, Girl and Baby just roll outta my mouth like drool. For that I apologize but it doesn't mean I won't do it again.

I learned it was great to hear from me childhood friend after emailin' her a picture of us.

Ya can't have too much chocolate or too many grandkiddos.

I always get a hoot and a holler outta you 'Thursdays' :O)

God bless and have an awesome weekend sweetie. Oops...there I go again.............

Never have a coughing fit with a full bladder either! Have a wonderful weekend!

I agree: never cut doggie toe nails (or husband's...I learned that lesson the hard way) and never cough when you have to pee after having four kids...and while holding the glass of wine!

I loved your post. I haven't had a chance to read it for a while and I missed it.

My ocmments:
You obviously are employed now as you are looking forward to weekends. Before one day was pretty much like the next.

I find being called "Young Lady" is kind of insulting (you're dating??) I feel like the person knows I'm not young but thinks that by calling me "Young Lady" I will be somehow flattered. I'm not!

I do think of you often and pray that life is going well and that you are happy.

#4 Just don't start eating cleanser like this girl on some show that's advertised while Hoarders is on!
#8 But since your mom got you crunchy things you might put off that bark a bit! Haha.

This denotes stress/anger. CRUNCH!!!

I'm going to crunch on a tree branch instead.

Add enough salt, and I'll join you.

I won't swallow it, I'll just crunch and spit it out. Is anyone else game on trying this?

I totally, I mean, totally, hate when a date calls me, "young lady".

Wait a few years. When they call you "ma'am"...or their teeth fall out when they say "sweetheart", THEN I'll listen to you complain.

In the words of the old, venerable advertisement: Euell Gibbons For Grape Nuts "Did you know that some parts of a tree are edible?"

Go eat a tree branch sweetie.

I thought of clipping my guinea pig's nails, then changed my mind after reading your post.LOL!

I'm the opposite! I can't eat when I'm stressed or depressed.

Love your list as always, Simone.

Nice Care Package Simone! Love all the "retro" sweets. They were my faves as a kid too.

Stress eating for me is crunch AND salt-- not good. But I'll skip the bark :-)

Lately I'm getting a lot of "old lady-implications" in the way people are addressing me so maybe "young lady" is okay once in a while-- especially if it's from someone younger than me.

Have a great week and feel good.

Those crunches can easily be solved with carrots, celery, or apples. I know, I know, it isn't the same--but you'll feel better for it later. :) I've done dog nails and they are MUCH more difficult to judge than the kitties. And they bleed a whole lot more too. UGH!

Funny....

You have to excuse us men, sometimes we're a tad bit stupid.

I'm like you --I love munching on crunchy, salty stuff! This year, I will try more almonds instead of chips!

I have learned that I am a better mother overall when I have enough sleep. :)

I am so with you on #5!!! I hate when anyone calls me those things. I also hate being called Honey.

My cats are so sad the tree is finally gone. They drank only out of it since the day after Thanksgiving. That must have been some delicious water:)
