The Christmas holiday brings out the worst...

I'm not kidding. Why else was there a shooting at Toys R Us in my area on Black Friday? Dude killed the person he argued with and turned the gun on himself. What?? The other guy stole his parking space????

Then...I hear about the trampling of the guy at the Walmart in New York! It's horrific to think that someone lost their life because of 2,000 people and their greed to get the best buys.

Tempers are short...the horns are being honked more than I've ever heard them being honked. People are getting robbed in parking lots.

What happened to the joyful, innocence of Christmas???

Somewhere, it's lost it's significance. It's not about getting the best deal but enjoying time spent with family and friends and celebrating, most of all Christ's birth (regardless of the opinions of when He really was born.)

I scratched my head (still scratching) and tried my best to figure out how I can make this season warm, traditional and just plain great without emphasizing the gift giving. Well, for one, I went out and bought Baby Boo 4 gifts...all from Walgreens and you know what? That's all she's getting! They had this cool special. Buy 2 toys and get one free. So, her Christmas cost $25.00 total. I am thinking rational...she is only 20 months old so why buy her bling and electronics when she will trash it or break it or be more excited by the box that the toys come in?

Then, I decided that for my Boo...he's going to get something...just one thing that he really, really has been wanting...that's it. No extras that he really doesn't want or need just because.

My Married Boo and Teen Boo....well..they read my blog so I can't say what they will get but they know me...simple is special so that's the road I'm heading down.

You won't find me out shopping this year. In fact, online shopping seems to be the safest bet and cybermonday is here! Hooray!!!

I have seen some crazy fights on Black Friday! I go out every year but I have never been in a fight myself and I refuse to. It's suppose to be a happy time. People get nuts! CYBER Monday! I am so excited I can't sleep. I am hoping to get some great buys! I have already made two purchases and it's only 4am!

All I want for Christmas is a happy family. Preferably in the same room.

I've been thinking the same thing! I've never done Black Friday shopping, and after this one, I won't ever!

you are a wise woman!

somehow we lost the true meaning of Christmas.. if we did get it, we would be packing the churches not the malls,

Christmas has become all about buying. I get gifts from co-workers I hardly know! And it's a total waste. I don't like most gifts I recieve.

A co-worker said to me that she wanted to work extra so she didn't max out her credit cards to buy gifts.

There is something wrong with that!

crazy, shopping was not bad at all in my neck of the woods. People were really considerate over items, no tugging, pulling or thrashing. It is sad that the holiday is now quite sad for some families because of what happened. So sad, about the walmart guy.

I have to agree with you on this. I hate that many have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. This year my princess (age 13) got three gifts that she REALLY wanted and all for just $100. All bought online!

Isn't it sad how bad our country is over Christmas - that life is so unimportant over getting a deal??? Very sad!

I stay at home on that day...I really don't feel any Spirit of the season just because of a sale.

Terrible what marketing and commercialization have done to the real meaning of love on Christmas.
