Waking up my creative side!

I've decided that Saturdays will now be officially thought of as Creative Saturdays. I was lying in bed the other night and it hit me that I've got some God given talents that have been shoved under a rug and not used lately....so the only way I'm going to pull them back out is to Order them out or else. One of those talents is the fact that I'm an artist. I paint wall murals and pictures on canvas. It started years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. I decided to create a magical room of lambs. I sketched them freehand and then painted them. The result was pretty neat. Then, baby number two was on her way and I chose to do a teddy bear theme. I admit that I amazed myself. It was the cutest room I'd ever seen...unfortunately, while leaving a babysitter to watch both girls, the vengeful girl painted over the mural. I won't even reminisce over the emotions of that one.

As I continued to paint, word got out and before long, I had the local newspaper knock on my door. They wanted to see the murals that I had created. I took them to a baby nursery that was done in the Jungle Book theme. The interview came out the next day and my phone started ringing. I didn't anticipate the response and it was overwhelming. I put it aside while raising my girls. I was going in so many directions and not getting paid for the time and energy spent away from the family.

Now that I've got the time to find my creativity again, I'm painting murals again but on a form that can be saved after it's no longer needed on the walls.

Here's the mural that was featured in the newspaper. One wall had baby elephants stenciled over the crib. The other had the tiger from the Jungle Book.

Do you have hidden talents? If so, join me on Saturdays for Creative Saturdays.

I'm inspired to join you on Creative Saturday. I shall post about those ceramics that I handpainted myself as soon I get round to taking pics of them.

God has truly blessed you with the ability to paint. Myself, I can't draw stick people let alone to that. I have to be more structured. I love to cross stitch.

Will you post more pictures of your paintings. I would love to see them.

OMG, that is AWESOME! You should definitely be doing something with that creative energy and talent. I know I can draw, but I've never developed that side of me, while my father and brothers did. Instead I write. However, maybe I should go back to the drawing board.
