(That's water on the floor...Humble slops water out of his mouth when he drinks.)

I'm a softie and I admit it...especially when it comes to animals. I treat them just like they are humans. So, my BIG baby, Humble gets treated like he's a lap dog or like my other two shih tzus. In the meantime, this has caused him to be breed identity confusion. Because he was never left outside but always inside, he now believes that his place in here in the house where it's nice and warm. We just bought him a brand new house and lined it with 10.00 fleece and what did he do? He tore the fleece to shreds and slept by the door, looking pitiful.

We decided to outsmart him so we glued what was left of the fleece and put heavy weights on it. He moved the weights and finished destroying the fleece.

He decided there was no more fun outside so while I was out running errands, he pushed his way in to the office and tore up every bill in my bill keeper. (Envelopes included.) He was proud of his handiwork. I told him that I wasn't speaking to him and put him outside. He suckered me once again and he came back inside. I shut doors just in case so that while I was not in the same room, he couldn't get into any trouble. I come back inside the living room to discover that he's torn my Wii control jacket to shreds. I'm sure he digested parts of it because there were only little bits of evidence. My shih tzu, Selah barked as if to say, "I tried to tell you but you wouldn't listen." Sam, the other shih tzu, stayed out of the room. He knew that Humble was in big trouble.

This morning, after Boo heard about Humble's destructive we decided that he was going to have to be outdoors more. I was in the kitchen, cooking and Boo left Humble for a mere 2 minutes and he chewed up the rest of the bills that had come in after the others he had chewed. Out he went.

Where is he now? Well, he's right here at my feet, sound asleep. He has me wrapped around his paw. I just can't imagine him being outside with it being so cold and of course, he's too ahem...stupid...to go inside his doghouse. I would sure love to hear any suggestions you all may have. In the meantime, he's under guarded watch by me and if I need to leave the room, he's going with me.

Well-told dog story! They do love to be dogs. I'm sure they wonder at our reactions when they chew something up that, in their minds anyway, really needed chewing. Like bills.

You've had no one enter your giveaway?!?!?!?!?! If I lived in the U.S. I'd have entered on the first day you mentioned it! Where is everyone?????

He's adorable. I can only tell you what you probably already know: dogs are pack animals and do not want to be left alone. They get bored or lonely and that's when the mischief starts.

We've rescued, fostered, rehabilitated and socialized dogs for the past 15 years and we find they are best behaved when they've got another dog or human around them all the time.

Dogs are like kids - one takes up all your time, two doesn't make it any harder. ;)

I agree with PJ---he just wants your attention. I have to rescues and one is a Pit bull..they both cannot stand if we lock them up somewhere or try to keep them out they have to be by us all the time...they are so worth it.

I would be exactly the same way! Get him a chew toy that looks like an envelope and give him some that he can play with and keep the rest well out of his way, might have to hang them from the ceiling, he looks like a big doggy!

I can't put a pet out either, they are part of the family and belong with the family, warts and all Lol!

Good Luck!

What a sweetheart Humble is. I'm sure he means well, poor thing. I guess I'm not helping too much, but look at cute he is! Seriously...I swear by crates for my dogs. Some people don't like them at all, and of course you have to decide for yourself. For us, the crate has been a godsend.

I'm entering your giveaway! I thought you'd be swamped with entries so I didn't enter but I'm clicking over there right now!

Well, maybe he thought he was doing you a favor by shredding the bills! :)

Do you have a crate for him? We still crate our dog whenver we leave the house for more than thirty minutes to ensure he doesn't chew anything up or make a mess? But our dog stays inside all the time. I just don't see how people leave their animals out all the time. They're our pets and need our love and that means indoors (just my opinion). I would purchase a crate if you don't have one and use that as his "time-out" for bad behavior. Best of luck to you!

If Humble does not get a daily long walk that would surely help. He sounds bored. I did not enter the giveaway because I don't want one of those. xoxo

He sounds like he's got you all figured out!! He's so adorable that I bet it's hard to stay angry with him!

I'd enter your giveaway but we already have the Wii Fit! What a cool giveaway!
