When I was little, being an identical twin, I always heard, "You look just alike". When we got older, we automatically assumed that we didn't look as identical. (Actually, we really don't...she's the skinny twin :) Yet, we get stared at quite often.
In spite of having a twin, I have had people come up to me and say, "You know who you look like?" Let's see...I've been told I look like Clair Huxtable, Wanda Sykes, and one of the cashiers from the grocery store. In fact, many times, I've had conversations with people who say, "Girl, I haven't seen you in a long time! Where you been?"
My reply? "I'm not sure who you think I am but I'm not her."
Then, they'd reply, "You look JUST like her!"
One day, I had someone come up to me and punch me in the arm. (It hurt too.) She said, "So, don't say hi!"
I looked at her and said, "Hi??" (Interpretation...I have no clue who you are.)
Her response: "Don't you be playing with me. You know who I am."
I kept a blank look on my face and said, "Actually, I don't."
I decided to stop the madness before she punched me again. I told her, "I'm a twin so more than likely, you know my twin sister."
The light came on and she said, "Oh, sorry for hitting you. I didn't know she was a twin."
I made a mental note to tell my sister that the next time someone punches me in the arm for mistaken identity, I get to give it right back to her. :)
Do you have a twin, a look alike? Do you reply, "I get that a lot?"

Oh My goodness...
Sweetie I didn't know you were a twin. How exciting/at least you always had someone to play with your own age. I think that it would be fun to have a twin, not the getting punched part tho.
Sadly, no, I have never been told I have a twin, or even that I look like someone they know. I can't say I have experienced that.
Have a beautiful day sweetie, and I know you must be the cute one right? Country hugs sweetie, Sherry
No, I haven't been mistaken for someone specific, but I often get mistaken for a Japanese or a Korean. :)
Too funny! Apparently I have a doppleganger semi-locally because I can't count the number of times I hear, "Where do I know you from?" "Have we met?" "You look so familiar!"
In lower Delaware, there are apparently many middle-aged, tall, wide women with short hair who look just like me. Poor girls!
I don't have a twin but I love the idea of you passing on the punches!
No sisters(: No twins(:
I have a friend who is an identical twin, and I've occasionally run into her twin and mistaken her for my friend.
I do hear quite frequently that I look like someone. I must have a common look about me!
Happy New Year Simone! I LOVE your new Blog look! I do not look like anyone, but I do get attention due to the chunky purple streaks in my hair!! I am still without a laptop (currently it is in surgery) so I hope to be blogging and visiting more frequently soon!! xoxo
People are always telling me they know me, or asking me how's my family, or striking up conversations with me as if they've always know me. It's weird because I've moved a lot in my life but still it happens all the time. I used to chalk it up to having a look alike in town, but then I moved. And moved again. And still people think they know me.
I must say that I agree you remind me of Wanda Sykes. =)
I don't hear it so much now but when I was a teenager, people used to tell me I looked like Valerie Bertinelli, now if I could just lose the weight like she did, I might look more like her again!
I didn't realize you were a twin!! How funny that people mistake you for your sister sometimes..although I would imagine after awhile it works your last nerve!!
I've only been told a few times that I look like someone but more often than not I hear, "Oh you're the lady with two sets of twins" which makes me wonder if maybe there's another lady in town with 2 sets also because I don't know half the people that say that to me!
Thankfully I think those times for me have come and gone. My husband gets it all the time now and most of the time, they know each other, go figure.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
I always thought it would be fun to have an identical twin but now I'm rethinking that :-)
A few times I've been told I looked like someone but in each case I was a mess at the time and felt sorry for my alleged "twin"!
Have a great day CCD.
xo
Nope, no twin and my sis is nine years younger and so not me.
I did one time at a fast food restaurant have someone swear they just say my performance at a Branson show. No matter how hard I tried I could not convince the couple it was not me!
Have a wonderful day!
I've been mistaken for someone else once or twice but then again, don't we all Asians look alike!!??
I don't have a twin but I can see how confusion reigns. My son has friends who are twins and I have a VERY hard time telling them apart. Thankfully now, at 18, they have 2 very different hairstyles and that has helped me IMMENSELY!!!
I am often mistaken for someone else -- I think I have one of those faces that is similar to others and have often been taken for someone else...I'd love to meet these other people and see how close the resemblance really is!!
Okay, I must admit Simone IS the cute twin, but of course we're identical which means I resemble my twin sis. What Simone didn't say was that I have also gotten mistaken on many occasions for her. At a jazz concert this guy kept looking at me. After about the 6th glance, he walked over to me. I thought he was getting ready to get his flirt on. Not! He went on to ask about my girls and how they were. I played it off for awhile and then decided to let him off the hook when he started asking specific questions. By the way Simone, "No tagbacks!"
it would be fun to have a twin, not the getting punched part tho.
