Put On a Happy Face

Sometimes I wake myself up smiling. Then, there are those times when I can barely fix my feet to climb out of bed without a good cup of coffee.

I have had plenty of reasons to smile this week. For one, my Baby Boo turned 3 years old. Even though we haven't had the chance to celebrate her birthday with her, I know that when she's finally here, we're going to party! We're going to make a cake, lick the beaters, play in the dirt, blow bubbles for the ducks and sing at the top of our lungs.

I had a great interview with an author of 18 books. Her name is ReShonda Tate Billingsley. She is a Christian fiction author who has written not only books for adults but also books for teens. Three of her books are being made into movies. The interview was for the magazine...Hope for Women Magazine....which leads me to another reason why I'm putting on a happy face....

I've been asked to step into the role of managing editor of Hope for Women Magazine. Hope for Women Magazine is a lifestyle magazine for women of faith. I'm excited by the opportunity and the challenge of it. What is truly amazing though is that I have a passion for writing, for speaking, for reading and reaching out and this is the opportunity that God has blessed me with. I will keep you all updated on subscriber information as well as the relaunch as it takes place. This is going to be one cool adventure!

When I was a kid, there was a church in the neighborhood that was situated on a busy street corner. During the observance of Easter, there was a portion of dirt that was draped with a black cloth, hung over a cross. This remained for a few days until on Easter Sunday, that corner was alive with color. Beautiful, colorful flowers splashed all around the cross. There was a sign that said, "He's risen." I remember how profound of an affect it had on me to see the transformation from bleak to beauty. This Easter weekend, as you reflect on your many thoughts, please remember, that out of even the most darkest moments, there is life waiting to be lived. Celebrate life!

Have a blessed and wondrous Easter.

What a perfect job for you. I knew God would find just the "write" position for you. I am very happy.

I sometimes wake up singing, usually in my head and not out loud, but it is a great way to greet the day.

I always laugh and remember that my youngest use to wake up with a smile at the sound of my voice in the morning. Now I am lucky if he can even hear me as I have to go upstairs and shake him awake and trust by that point in time there is no smile to be had.

Congratulations on the new job! I can't wait to hear more about it.

Your story about the corner by the church made me smile. I've always loved the Maundy Thursday service best. Everyone thinks it's weird that I like such a sad service, but for me the decorating of the church in black, removing the items from the altar, and turning out the lights (symbolizing that the Light had gone out of the world) drives home just how much it means on Easter that He LIVES!

Enjoy your time with Baby Boo (she's so cute). I'm getting to babysit Beanie Baby today for the first time without her parents hovering. I'm so excited!
