Things I Wonder

There are those great issues of global warming and poverty but then again I have questions on things that are simple...that are possibly easier to answer. Here are some of the things I wonder about....

1) When someone falls down, why do people ask, "Did you hurt yourself?" Of course, they hurt themselves. They FELL down!

2) In the phrase "To be or not to be, that is the question"....to be what? A frog? A cookie? A human being?

3) Why is a salt shaker called a shaker and not a sprinkler?

4) Who thought of the name, "hot dog"? It bears no resemblance to a dog.

5) Why do waiters and waitresses come to your table every 5 minutes to ask if everything is okay? I think it's a bit overkill if you ask me. If they are that curious, they may as well pull up a chair and join me. I'll give them the play by play detail.

6) Why do dogs lick themselves?

7) Why DO they call those hot wings, buffalo wings?

8) Why do the NFL players get paid so much money to throw a ball around?

9) When I was a kid, my mom used to warn me to stop being hardheaded. What exactly is the difference between a hard head and a soft head?

10) Why do people complain that sloppy joes are so messy?

11) Why does Walmart hire non-English speaking employees? If I get asked one more time if I speak English and where the sugar is, I'm going to ask to be put on their payroll.

12) Why do older people where such loud smelling perfume?

What do you wonder? Use your imagination and be honest. There are no stupid wonderings.

I like your wonderings today! #5 is they are working for their tip, here in Germany after the meal is served they never come back you have to flag them down....they don't work for tips here. #6 I think dogs lick themselves because they can!#8 drives me nuts pay teachers more for molding our youth instead of sports figures! Have a wonderful weekend.

I wonder why people continue to say "my alarm clock went off when in fact, it came on"

Loved your post today!

1. Now I am craving a Sloppy Joe and 2. I agree on the perfume! People! there are those with asthma who cannot tolerate any fragrance.

Just yesterday I was sharing #2 with a co-worker. We need to sadly alert clients not to wear perfume (I have asthma) If it is overwhelming I must leave the office.

Good wonderings! I have an answer for you on #12. Older people lose some of their sense of smell, so they put on more perfume. It's what also makes food not taste as good to them.

#12 - I think it's because they either smell of licorice or old books.

Mommy, I think #4 (why hot dogs are called hot dogs) no doubt has to do with the fact that "hot dogs" contain meat from dogs in it. I mean, "hot dogs" have every type of meat inside of it but the kitchen sink! So perhaps that's why they call it "hot dog" because there's dog in it...?

Buffalo wings are named so because they originated in Buffalo, NY.

And I kind of like when the wait staff checks in a lot--just in case I need something.

Don't dogs lick themselves because they can't turn on the faucet to the bathtub??? :)

Old people can't smell as well as they used to, so they slather on the perfume, thinking they don't have enough on.

I hope you figure out the answer to #8; I've been wondering the same thing for years!! It's a mystery to me.

Thanks for your encouragement on my Blog in regard to homeschooling. Do you remember what curriculum you used?

Love number 8 and all the other professional sports players, perhaps this salary range should be given to teachers that really love their jobs and spend all those hours making sure our kids learn the basics of math and English!

The sport players can make what teachers get paid!

Stop by when you can, I miss seeing you.

#2- Ah, Hamlet's speech. Perhaps my favorite soliloquy. I'm assuming you're kidding on the frog thing :) but truly the weighing of his options between life and suicide, free will versus mandate against it by God, the possible relief that death poses given his suffering versus the unknown of what the afterlife could bring, and the possibility that his afterlife could be worse than the life he wished to escape...amazing. Sorry, I get a little too passionate about Hamlet. :)

Good questions. I wonder about the perfume too - I guess because it nauseates me.
There is history and an answer for all those questions. Someone could write a good book answering them and all the others you've wondered about in your blog. :)

Did you say Sloppy Joes?!?!?! I love them, but you're right, it's a crazy name.

That's some big thinking going on CCD :-)

Happy weekend.

Oh, you are making me laugh. A lot. I've been slacking in my bloggish neighborliness as school has been more than hectic. Now that I'm back in the swing again, I wanted to stop in and say hello. Happy spring!

Great musings!

I wonder why French fries are called French fries.

Why do old time country music stars wear such God awful costumes?

Why do men like the Three Stooges?

And I totally agree with you about waiters. I always drink unsweetened tea, then add Sweet and Low; they come and replenish my tea every few minutes, so I'm constantly adding more sweetener and stirring. AAARRRGGG!!!!

I was at a restaurant in South Padre Island once and our waiter kept takin' my silverware the second I'd lay it down. I wasn't finished...I still wanted to eat without placing my face in my plate. It got so funny and I started hidin' my utensils instead of layin' them down.

I loved your wonderings!

God bless ya and have a marvelous Monday!!!
