Why Not to Eat Green Tea Oreos and Other Musings
So, exploring my new town has been an adventure in itself. It has had it's many tears (from getting lost) to its laughter from finding a place that I didn't know existed.
Single Boo and I ventured out to a really cool Asian market. Let me preface to say that if there was such a thing as another life, I would say that in another life, I truly believe I was Asian. I love everything Asian. I love Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, and Korean food and can eat it, every single day. Since third grade, I've had an attraction to Asian men. (I think Bruce Lee was hot!) So, we went to Uwajimaya, a huge Asian market, to shop. I oohed and ahhhed so many times that management was on alert. I decided to "shop" for things that looked like they could possibly taste good. Here's a look at some of the things that I bought.
(My new addiction is chocolate dipped almond Pockys.)
They even had a wonderful book section. If my daughter hadn't given me "the look" I know for a fact, I would've been pretending to read some of the books on display.
I oohed and ahhhed some more when I got to the frozen food section and then let out a huge Wow! when I got to the seafood display. We're talking a huge aquarium of live fish. How fresh is that? You can literally pick your fish and it will be packed and ready to go within minutes. I couldn't do it though. The fish all seemed to be talking to me all at once. They seemed to say, "Please don't eat me." So, feeling remorseful, I kept walking.
Then, we got to the desserts. I don't care what ethnicity you are...dessert is dessert. My Single Boo and I decided to (she dared me) to buy an Green Tea Oreo Cookie. Can I say, "dessert fail"? I just couldn't past the "green" part. It honestly tasted like chocolate dipped hay. (I'm being honest.)
But all wasn't lost. For dinner, we both had Pho Bo and in spite of it being "instant", it totally hit the spot.
Do you challenge your taste buds? Variety is a spice of life, right?

Take your time finding your way around your new city. Pretty soon it will make more sense.

I'll try most anything but two things I will never have again are goat tacos and fish taco...both were eaten south of the border.
Enjoy your day and all your new found goodies!!!
