Thursday's Things I've Learned

I've decided to make it a tradition to post on Thursdays, the Things I've Learned. Seems like life is just full of lessons for me - some good and some not so good. Right now, I just got news that the house we were going to rent and move into on the 31st of this month is no longer available. We're scrambling to find a place and I'm sticking everything in my mouth from the stress of it all. So...in spite of that piece of news...I may be looking to rent a few shopping carts, attach them and call them condos on wheels. (Just kidding...humor is a little stale at the moment.)

The things I've learned...

1) Pity parties end early when celebrated alone.

2) Not all doctors wash their hands before they eat.

3) First impressions aren't always right.

4) Ten almonds a day is supposed to improve my memory. I wonder if twenty a day makes me a genius?

5) When a doctor's name is Yu Ho, I'm supposed to hold all laughter in....including greeting him as Dr. Ho.

6) I cannot drive and sneeze at the same time.

7) When the elderly say, "huh?" and put their hand to their ear, it's not because they can't hear you...it's because they are trying to start a conversation with you.

8) The older you are, the more stinkier the perfume.

9) It's much easier to laugh than it is to cry. The only thing crying accomplishes is smeared makeup, red eyes, a runny nose and no kleenex to be found!

10) Sometimes its worth being called the wrong name instead of correcting someone. Today I was called Naomi -- twice. Whoever Naomi is, I hope I do her name proud!

What have you learned?

I learned that no matter how much I WISH I married a doctor, I didn't and I still have to get up and go to work every day.
I also learned that I could make someone else's day by doing such a simple thing. Hope it gets better darlin.
If you were closer, I'd let you move in here. I've got two spare bedrooms and a half finished added on room. (half finished equals walls - lol)

I thought it was gingko biloba that promotes great memory.

I learned that it's ok not to have the last word all the time.

I've learned that if I try to write something I've learned before having my coffee in the morning that I am left speechless and dumb.

I have learned to check out a doctor's name before going to them. No Dr. Ho for me.

Love the Thursday post idea!

Haha - absolutely true.
Its embarrassing enough to correct someone once, but then its just way uncomfortable.

I had a teacher that consistently thought my name was Kimberley Clarke (y'know like the toilet paper manufacturer) *sigh* What a great namesake.

Hello there!

I've learned that my kids keep me young and make me very old at the very same time! ;o)

Number 2 grosses me out!

I learned that after making a mistake it is better to just go forward, dwelling on it won't change it, worrying about it won't cure it and hiding from it won't make it go away. Dealing face on is the only way and moving forward changes it.

I've learned I stay less stressed if I give people the benefit of the doubt.

I left you an award on my blog.

Oh, Simone, I hope you find a wonderful place, and soon!

Your #8 cracked me up. I think when you get older, the perfume is in lieu of a shower. You know, it gets harder and harder to get in and out of the tub.

Great post.

I learnt that it doesnt take much to be kind to other people and change theriir lives for the better.

I really hope you find somewhere new soon and that it will put your mind at rest.

When you find out about the 20 almonds let me know would you as I could do with as much help as I can on the grey matter side of things!!

Take Care and breathe slowly!
