A Lesson in Friendships
I'm writing an article for a magazine on friendships...women friendships. It may be a topic that's overdone but in my opinion, it's not done enough. I mean, there's lifelong friendships that exist from grade school and then there's friendships that exist as a result of happenstance....serendipidity. Often times, blogging friendships grow from that...serendipity.
When my daughters were growing up, I would say to them, "To have a friend, you must be friendly." It sounds corny now but back then, they truly believed that in order to be a friend, it began with you. You reached out first, you lent a hand, or a shoulder to cry on, or arms to hug or even a treasured rock to give. I grew up believing that too. When I have a friend that is in need, I immediately spring into action. "Is there anything I can do? Do you want me to come over to help? Stay there, I'm on my way...and no, I'm not taking no for an answer." Friendship means not taking score over who called who and how many times. You just know that you know that she has your back and you have hers.
Do you have a friend like that? If that friend were to be down on their luck, would you drop all that you were doing to lend a hand? AND ---There's no such thing as needy in friendships. I am there for you and you are there for me...PERIOD!!!! It may be my time to collapse and cry while you are the strong one but you know what? When it's your time, you can bet your boots I'll be right there.
So, in celebration of women friendships, grab your girlfriend by the hand, and let her know just how much she means to you. Trust me, she may think you are nuts for a quick second and then grin from ear to ear. Everyone needs a CHICKEN....What's a chicken??? A chick + friend = chicken.

Actually some of my best friends have been made within the blogging community. We have just all been there or done that and we can accept each other for how we are, without changing anything about ourselves.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention and to take the time to tell our friends that they mean the world and so much more.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
You always bring up interesting topics. I'm seeing my girlfriends tomorrow. Because of what you wrote, I'm going to make sure they know how much I love them.

I have lots of other friends I would do anything for, but my BFF is special for a reason.
& so is Jarebear. :]
I think I've finally found someone in my neighborhood I can actually count on, trust and love without all that gossip bullshit that goes on here. I haven't made a TRUE friend since HS.

I'm just back from vacation. I missed you!

I'm trying to work on my friendships that I've neglected.
