I'm getting goofy silly as I just realized that Christmas is only a day away. I've really enjoyed getting ready for the holidays this year. I think it's because I refused to stress out. Shopping at thrift stores and making gifts this year has been so much fun. I can't wait to see the reactions on everyone's faces.
On to the things I've learned...
1) When the phone rings at 1:45 a.m., it's definitely not good news.
2) Christmas television shows were so much more enjoyable when I was a kid. My twin and I used to watch Christmas with the King Family, like clockwork. I don't know why but what an intriguing family they were.
3) What does figgy pudding taste like? How about chestnuts roasting over an open fire?
4) My dogs need the 12 step treat program. I take full responsibility but they are addicted to dog treats. One goes out and pretends to pee and then they all bark for a treat and then the other goes out, pretends and then barks. This is an all day thing!
5)I love my Christmas coffee!! Coffee stirred with a peppermint stick! Yum!
6) My family's Christmas celebration will be on the 27th since Boo and TV Boo both work on Christmas day. But, I'm okay with that. Every day can be a celebration of Christ's birth. Besides, I'm going to get my jingle jingle on with a couple in the 70's who have invited me out to dinner. (I promise I won't get them arrested!)
7) On my list of things I hate to eat at Christmas time....fruitcake (bleh--from a childhood memory), rolled dates, and mincemeat pie (double bleh).
8) When I was little, my mom always baked each of us our favorite dessert at Christmas time. My favorite was a Cherry Cream Cheese pie. Wouldn't you know it that when all the relatives came over on Christmas night to visit, the first dessert they went for was the Cherry Cream Cheese pie? One year, I got smart and cut a slice and hid it under my bed to guarantee that there would be a least one piece for me. I learned that I'm thankful I don't have to do that anymore! :)
9) I can never get enough of Whitney Houston's Do You Hear What I Hear.
10) I've got cookies to bake and candy to make but not before I wish all of you a very special day of celebrating Jesus' birth and our greatest gift of all!! Be safe as you travel. Laugh lots, love lots and seek out every mistletoe you find! Love you all, thank you for being my friends.
If you'd like you can share what you've learned.

I remember the King Family Christmas and I have actually roasted chestnuts over an open fire. You roast them just until the shells split open then MMMmmmm warm and luscious!
I ofter grab up the grand-kids and we roast hot dogs and marshmallows in the fireplace. I call it a picnic on the hearth. Smores are sounding pretty good right now!
Have a great Christmas dear friend. We are having our big celebration here one the Ponderosa Saturday. This Grandma gonna have a blast!
God bless!!!
that was lovely!
here it is Christmas Eve and I have yetto even think about dinner for today or tomorrow!! i woke up with the stomach flu and now Im thinking we might go out!! OH NO!?!? or I will just have fun cooking with what i have in the pantry....
i hope you show us the cool things you got from thift stores and made...
Merry Christmas CCD! Have a wonderful time with the family on the 27th!
xo
The pie under your bed made me smile! I agree about the freedom of refusing to stress out this year. It's made such a difference, and allowed me to focus on all of the gifts that came through the birth of one holy baby.
#5 sounds good! I couldn't resist visiting your blog even though I'm supposedly taking a break!
I've learned that it is such a joy to give to a little girl who gushes out thank you's at each little thing she receives and gives out hugs and kisses to boot --without having to be asked!
(I've never liked fruit cakes either!)
Merry Christmas, Simone!
We used to watch the King Family Christmas every year too! Part of the tradition of the time...
Hope you are enjoying the Christmas holiday!
Learning new things here...never heard of the King family, and I don't know what cherry cream cheese pie is (but I would love the recipe). I love that you are a twin, but yet you call others your twin, and thus invite perfect (and imperfect) strangers into your family. You rock!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas celebration with your family tomorrow and that there is not a fruitcake in sight. I just want to know who does like fruitcake?
loved reading that....always enjoy my stops...glad to be back with time to read my favorite blogs....
A little late but wishing you and your family a wonderful festive season - you'll be jingle jingling by now I expect!

Hope you had a fabulous Christmas! We used to watch Christmas with the King Family too. And the Osmonds. Boy, those were the days...
I love my rich coffee with cinnamon sticks. In fact, I'm going to get some now.
:)
Happy New Year, CCD!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday celebration!!!!
I love the peppermint sticks too but I guess I shouldn't have been surprised to read that your mom makes Cherry Cheesecake at Christmas. So does mine and has every year for at least the last 25 Lol!!
I've learned to NOT watch Christmas specials. I think they are the number one reason so many people get depressed during Christmas. It presents the way it "should be" as per the WALTONS and DISNEY.
I also learned a long time ago that if a fruitcake is moist and chocked full of yummies, it's better than candy.
I am cracking up about your dogs. Mine is so picky about her treats. She actually turns up her nose at them until I pull out one that she will take!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from your Secret Santa!
I too would like to see what treasures you found at the Thrift Store and what you made. I made a sweater for my sister but the arms were a tad too long (think gorilla!) Well, I am fixing them this week so she can wear it without sweeping the floor with the cuffs!
Hope you had a happy and blessed Christmas.
I just realized what the date is, and am sending belated Christmas good wishes to you for your day on the 27th! Hoping it was wonderful, and can't wait to see what creative, crafty gifts you came up with for your loved ones! Yes, I wish we were closer too....actually, we're NOT THAT far away from each other! oxox
I can certainly relate to this list! Our Christmas was also on the 27th, and, like you, I didn't mind...much.
My gosh, I'd almost forgotten about the King Family. Wasn't one of them Tina Cole, who later joined My Three Sons as Katie, Robbie's wife?
Happy New Year to you and all the Boos!
Mmmm I love Christmas coffee too! And yeah, what the heck IS figgy pudding?!
will just have fun cooking with what i have in the pantry....
