Choking Down Tears

Blogging has become quite real to me. It's filled with real people with real lives who do "real" things. Yet, it's easy to sit in front of the computer screen and not necessarily feel the realness. It would be more easier to feel their pain, their anguish, their emotions, if they were sitting right across from me, right? Wrong.

I've been blogging for two years. I have many followers that have followed me from the beginning and I've gotten to know them, their kiddos and their hubbies or loved one. So, upon hearing that my friend, Hallie had lost her beautiful boy, CJ, I was shocked to tears.

Hallie is one of the most beautiful, giving women that I know. Her dad's life was saved as a result of organ donation so in return, she held a raffle and pledged money to organ donation as a result. This wasn't just any ol' raffle...there were things pouring in from all parts of the world to be raffled for a pretty cool cause.

Unfortunately, we can't always see ahead to the pain that lies ahead. The pain she is feeling as she has had to lay to rest her sweet boy, CJ will somehow subside, but it will never completely leave. Her and her husband, John and their son, Connor are paying tribute to CJ's life by walking in a suicide prevention walk called Out of the Darkness Overnight They have a team of walkers who will be walking in CJ's honor as well. They need sponsors to make this happen. If you find a stirring in your heart to donate, please click here. You will be taken to Hallie's site for more information.

Hold tightly to your loved ones. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow hasn't come, we are only living in the present by God's grace.

It breaks my heart.

This is heartbreaking. I just read the post about CJ; he was quite the remarkable young man. Why, oh why, do so many of our young, bright, respectable, and seemingly happy children feel compelled to take their lives?

I cannot imagine the pain the family is feeling. My hope is that no other parent EVER has to go through this kind of agony.

Bless you for posting this.

I agree with ethelmaepotter in that no parent should ever have to go through something like this... my heart aches for her family.

It's unimaginable to me. I don't even want to wrap my head around it because it's THAT scary.

God bless CJ, Hallie and their loved ones.

How very heart-wrenching. It's so very sad that bright young people think this is the only way out. I so try to stress to my Sunday School and Kid's Church that there is no problem that they and God can't handle.

My heart and prayers go out to the family.

God bless you and thanks for the heads up.

How tragic and heartbreaking, but I look at the good God is able to cull from this....the family walking to help others, you spurring others to help....and I see HOPE.

That is so horribly tragic. I donate locally to an organization such as this...our daugher tried three times...did not succeed but was very determined. Or not. Depending on how you look at it. This organization really helped save my sanity. Thank you for making people aware of this support that is out there for these tragic situations.

Simone,

This seems to be the growing trend in our young people today that feel that this is their only option to deal with issues. However what they fail to recognize is how easy it is to do, it's living that is the difficult part. I only hope that more kids will reach out and ask for help and that even if we aren't their parents we can have eyes and ears open enough to hear their pleas for help.

Prayers are being sent for Hallie and her family during this most stressful time in their lives. Thanks for providing a link to help out.

Thank you for sharing this heart breaking story with us! It sure does put my little annoyances and post-surgery headaches into perspective of what's really important! I cried too reading their story. So sad but good for them for doing this walk to find some meaning and try to move forward. What brave souls they are!

Hugs to them and to YOU~
