Things I've Learned Thursday

1) Things go better with bacon. This is a Maple Bacon Bar that is beyond delicious!

2) Even though I'm a dog person, there's nothing like having a new grand kitty too. Here she is (finally figured out that kitty was a she - thank God for online instructions on identifying).

3) I'm very brave in my dreams. I woke up after I beat up my comforter to a pulp. I won!

4) Nothing stands in the way of Thursday night, Grey's Anatomy and my twin sis and I watching it together by phone. We call each other every commercial and then, after we see next week's preview. It's the next best thing to being there!

5) I live 30 minutes away from Washington so it's a strange feeling to drive to a different state in a matter of minutes.

6) I forgot how much of a comfort painting is until I completed a picture last week. It was such a great feeling. I sent it to someone as a surprise. I'm hoping she likes it.

7) October is National Book month and National Cookie month. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? A good excuse for eating cookies for breakfast, lunch and dinner while reading a few books.

8) The word "no" seems to be one word that becomes more difficult to spit out. I'm not sure why this is happening. Maybe I need to practice in the mirror saying, "Thank you, but NO!" Note to telemarketers and cute kids selling cookies, calendars and wrapping paper, "I am really a nice lady but in order to stay focused on using on the word "no", I cannot obligate myself to purchasing anything, no matter how adorable you are."

9) After reading the book, 29 Gifts by Cami Walker, I've discovered that when I feel the blues creeping up, that looking for ways to give totally wipes away the blues. I love giving whether it's something handmade or doing a favor for someone in need.

10) Some women still don't like telling their ages. My mom's birthday is today and she thinks that we don't know how old she is. She keeps it a "secret" and has always kept it that way. A long time ago, I snuck and went into her wallet and saw the year she was born. I now "know" how old she is but she doesn't know that I know.

What have you learned?

I enjoy your 'weekly lessons'!

I would love to see a picture of the painting you did.

You are a very thoughtful person. Your loved ones are blessed to have you.

P.S. I LOVE the idea that there is an 'official month' for eating cookies while reading a book!!!

so are you going to show us this painting?

aww...we are thinking of getting a kitten or maybe a hound for the boys...

and everything is better with bacon!

OOOOOH, I LOVE the kitten! What is her name???

I think the word "No" is very difficult for a lot of people. But once you get used to saying it, it comes easier. I have a friend who can't say "no" and I tell her that I will give her lessons in Miss Lin's Assertiveness Training Camp. (learn to curse for $5 extra) ;)

I've learned that you're a bit of a sneak to go prowling through your Mom's purse! LOL
Gotcha!

I've learned that I need to eat some cookies and find one of those maple bacon bars! That is so funny about your mom and her age. Your kitten is really cute. I can't believe you dream so much, I seldom dream. I like that you have found comfort in painting and helping others. Hope you have a great weekend and that you had fun talking to your sister during Grey's!

How funny that your mom has never told you her true age!!!!! Are you ever gonna tell her that you know?

National Cookie Month? Are you serious?? I can't think of anything better than munching on warm chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven while snuggled up ith a great book!

chinese people are very secretive about their age too and i couldn't guess right since they look younger for their age. a conversation went like this with one of my chinese colleagues:

CC - how old are you?
Me - 27 (this was in 2007). what about you?
CC - it's rude of you to ask me my age. we chinese people dont reveal our age!
Me - :os

#4 - Nothing comes between me and Tuesday nights! It's Vampire Diaries for me and I'd have my eyes glued to the TV until the show ends!

Bacon does make things taste better!
I made a Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin and it was amazing!
Marcus wants to know where he purchase that donut? Now you know why we call him the Bacon Eating Kid!

You are strong when you're awake, too.

I used to have a recurring dream that I was fighting someone to no avail. I'd wake up exhausted and defeated. THEN I took a kickboxing class! That was years ago, and I haven't had that dream since!

I love thinking about you and your sister calling each other like that! How fun.

1) Bacon is KING! I love all things pork. God truly blessed us when he created the pig.

5) It's always interesting to me when people say that. I've always live in metropolitan areas, so it seems commonplace to me. Grew up in NY, so we could get to CT or NJ is minutes. Now live in MD and we can be to VA or DC in minutes.

I'm still trying to figure out that maple bacon bar...whether I'd like it or not. Maybe because I really need to go and have lunch; I'm very hungry. Too bad I don't have one to sample. :)

I've missed the entire season of Grey's so far. I would LOVE to watch it with my daughter though. Maybe we'll try that.

The maple bacon bar looks like a sweet roll??

Oh how I miss bacon...now I'm cravin' it and Dr. Whitecoat would not be happy. It's a cholesterol thang! Heeehehehe!

I'm MIA, been spendin' time with my very ill Daddy who passed away Wednesday evening.

God bless ya and have yourself a marvelous weekend!!!

Simone,

I didn't realize you moved to Oregon. We are planning such a move as early as next year (fingers crossed). It doesn't have anything to do with Seattle Grace from Greys does it? I love that show as well. It's gotten much better but I am hoping for Mark and Lexie to reconcile.

Love and Hugs ~ Kat

You had me at Maple Bacon Bar. And I'm a vegetarian, but I'm salivating. Did you make it???

I'm so behind on Grey's, very backed up in my DVR. Must fix that soon! I'm in withdrawal!

Did you send it to me?? I must call the post office because they probably lost it in the mail.

I love all animals and Joe has to wrap my head in duct tape whenever we're around kittens...or turtles..or possums..well, anything with less than 8 legs.

I've learned that if I eat what I want for six weeks during the summer, I gain six pounds and can't even consider the cookies or the bacon.

Bacon Bar? Uh, eeewww! LOL, sorry!

What I've learned? That the things that are only temporary don't have to be painful when they end.
