Things I've Learned Thursday
Wow, it's been a learning week, I tell you!
1) Salt on a wound really DOES stop the bleeding. I thought I was going to have to take a trip to the ER after slicing my thumb really deep. It bled (more like dripped) for an hour until I called Dr. Dad and he said one word, "Salt". I poured salt on it and within a minute, it had stopped.
2) Singing silly songs that I called Doodee Doos, puts a kitty to sleep in a catatonic (pun intended)like state.
3) Dark chocolate covered caramels from Trader Joe's are my new favorite love. What a combination!
4) I dreamed of a passionate kiss between someone unknown (to me at least) and I. Should I put up a Wanted billboard in hopes of finding him. I think he was my soul mate. Too bad I woke up.
5) I still follow the 5 second rule and kiss it up to God ONLY when I'm at home and whatever it is that I drop is REALLY worth it.
6) When I get a really nice thank you card from someone, it makes me want to send them a thank you card in return.
7) People really go all out for decorating for Halloween. I guess I'm an old stick in the mud because I have never put up Halloween decorations. By the way, why do women wear nasty nurse costumes? I've never seen any nasty nurses when I've been in the hospital.
8) I'm usually the most non irritated person but lately, I find it extremely irritating to listen to someone discuss their whole life on their cell phone while standing in a check out line. I seriously don't want to know all of their business.
9) I'm becoming very good at recycling. I've never worked so hard at deciding what goes in which trash can or how to recycle something. Craigslist and Freecycle has been great!
10) It makes me sad when I hear about tv legends like Barbara Bilingsley and Tom Bosley dying. I feel like they were family members as I was growing up.
What have you learned?

I'm not a fan of Halloween decorations either. I go with the Fall/Thanksgiving look myself.
I'm sad to see Barbara Billingsley and Tom Bosley pass too.
Slutty costumes on little kids make me ill.
Oooooh, I thought I smelled chocolate over here. The chocolate covered caramels sound divine...yep, the other food group!
I'm savin' up all my decorating energy for my favorite time of the year....Christmas!!! Woohoo...love it!!!
I learned how long I could 'hold it' when traveling across the big old state of Texas. :o)
Your Thursdays never disappoint me.
Enjoy your day sweetie and may it be richly blessed!
#1 - didn't that salt burn like crazy???
We still have those childhood memories to sustain us after the actors are gone. Isn't that wonderful?
I like milk chocolate caramels.
This passionate kiss of which you speak...I hope you get that!
hope you have a wonderful weekend! So glad I found your blog. Thank you for all your sweet comments lately on mine.
Blessings,
Jill
Thanks for the Trader Joes chocolate/caramel tip. I'm adding it to my shopping list. (I love that store.)
And I am so with you on the cel phone conversations. The other day I sat on a train behind a young woman who told her friend how gross a dental surgery was she'd observed that day-- and she used great detail. It was nasty. Grrrr.
I'm off to catch up on your posts that I missed. xo jj
I've learned that your TILT always delight me.
Have a nice day, Simone!
I have a friend who goes overboard on the thank-you card department, and she actually HAS sent thank yous for thank yous before!
I don't decorate for Halloween, either, but I make up for it at Christmas...
Yes, it's always sad when we lose those who visited in our living rooms all those years. We loved them as if they were parts of OUR families. But they're not completely gone, for they left us such wonderful memories that we can replay again and again. I think often I Love Lucy and Andy Griffith, and how we've lost almost all of their casts...but what a legacy to leave the world!

I've learned that a husband who doesn't keep a close eye on a 5-pound dog in the back yard will not complain one little bit when he has to spend hundreds of dollars to save her life after she's attacked by a huge dog.
And that when the vet says I'm going to have to "do EVERYTHING for her for the next two weeks;" that he doesn't want her to do "anything except sit and watch tv," what he really means is "get a rope and tie her down, coz she's going to be totally oblivious to the fact that she's sick."
I've learned that when your husband waits until the very last day to decide which vacation to take, and you cancel the one you really wanted, you find a note on the refrigerator door that night telling you to go ahead and book the other if you really want to. And when you try to rebook, it's gone.
I've learned to forgive the husband, because he's really feeling so guilty about the dog.
I've learned that when your best friend finally decides to become computer literate and you give her your blog address, she'll read one post and the comments, find a comment by someone named Chocolate Covered Daydreams, click on her link, and spend the rest of the day reading HER stuff.
And I've learned I'm just happy she's found a new friend!

I love Halloween. Probably one of my favorite holidays. I love to be scared. HA!!!
Happy weekend my friend.
I wish we had a Trader Joe's here. I LOVE that place! Love chocolate caramels too.
And the naughty nurses? That is just some weird male fantasy.
I love this post. What a beautiful write today.
I have only a couple of things up for Halloween as we just painted the house, and I haven't had as much time. I decorate for the grands and the 120+ kids that come through our neighborhood every year. They love to see a little something.
Now I too am not a big fan of cell phones and people that share loudly their private conversations. One day I simply stated to a gentleman behind us while trying to eat our dinner, "Could you please take your conversation outside, we don't want to hear about Aunt Tillie's surgery while we are trying to eat out supper." He hung up. I think sometimes they forget where they are. I said it quite nicely when I asked.
I too was so sad to see "Mrs. Cleaver" and "Richie's Dad" pass away. It means we are getting older, and time is flying by. They were in the real TV, when TV went off the air, it wasn't on 24/7 and kids played games outside for the summer, instead of parked in front of a Wii or Facebook. Yes those were good times weren't they?
Thank you for the beautiful share sweetie. I always love to stop by.
Many hugs and SO much love, Sherry
I have never put up Halloween decorations either! I don't see much point. Nor do I want to spend my money on something that.
I've learned that being on antibiotics is no fun! So sick of being sick~! And tired of having the side effects of medicine too - the worst is diarrhea~ blech.
I've learned that spending a day cuddling on the couch with my daughter though is the best cure for me. And I've learned that my husband is better at taking care of me than any "dirty nurse" would ever be~! :)
Have a great week Simone!
Many Blessings to you!
Jill

Salt? Sounds painful. But I'll remember it.
I've learned that you share interesting things. And I've learned that, in blogland, anyone who's a friend of Miss Kris, and Dana, has to be a good person.
I'm with you--I felt bad about Tom Bosley and Barbara Billingsley too.
