Things I've Learned Thursday

1) Just because it's not raining when I go into the grocery store doesn't mean that it won't be pouring when I come out.

2) I love it when God surprises me with something right in front of my face. I was in my car in the library parking lot, ready to back out when I stopped and looked, REALLY LOOKED at my surroundings. I was surrounded by gorgeous trees with brilliant red leaves. I just sat with my mouth open in awe. I was like a kid in a candy store. Never have I really had the joy of experiencing something so beautiful in California.

3) Jolly Joes, the candy that I used to eat when I was a kid, still tastes like dirt!

4) There was so much more I wanted to say in the post, "Can't Take Away My Memories" but couldn't for fear of crying as I wrote it. Let's just suffice it to say that there are some things that will never again be the same.

5) On one hand, I save when I use coupons but on the other hand, I buy stuff that I normally wouldn't buy just because I have a coupon.

6) There is an auto shop that is built around the decor of a 50's diner. It is one of the most magical places I've been to in a long time. They literally have old magazine issues of Life and National Geographic, serve free coffee, hot chocolate, a limo ride home (I kid you not)AND a free loaner car.

7) In order to officially settle here in Oregon, I need to learn a bit about the Oregon Ducks and the Portland Trailblazers. Sorry Lakers...I have to do this.

8) When calling Crimestoppers and I'm on hold for 15 minutes and the girl returns and asks, "So what's the crime?" after I've explained it to her, it's time to call the police instead.

9) I just love Southern accents. I'm not poking fun but I find myself literally pronouncing words in my head as I listen to people with accents, talk.

10) I'm so very grateful I don't have the ability to lick my feet but I sure wish my puppies would get the hint. It is the most annoying sound in the world!!!!

What have you learned?

That auto shop is cool! Just like my dealer! I have learned to call ahead (if I can) so I can get one of the new vehicles to swan around town in.

Our Toby is the ultimate toe licker. I have given up. Can't stop him. Feels good!

It's times like this I'm sooo happy Tiger the Wonder Dog is an outside dog!

I only clip coupons of items I truly use, otherwise I'd be too tempted to just throw caution to the wind and buy it all!!! :o)

The auto shop sounds too cool to not break down every now and again! Heeehehehe!

God bless ya and have a totally great day sweetie!!!

I know what you mean about using coupons. I do that too! I love those red colored leaves in the fall. I am not getting much in the way of color down here in NC and I miss it!

Calling Crimestoppers and the police-- yikes! I hope everything is okay.

I'm guilty of over spending with coupons too.

I'm reading between the lines of #4 and sending you love and support. I hope you find peace with whatever it was.

xoxo jj

#5 - LOL! When I first moved here, I had to go to every sale in every store in the hopes of "scoring." And I "scored" a lot. A lot of shoes and stuff that I had to throw out or give away when I moved flats.

We are peak right now for the changing of leaves here in Southern New England. Every year I am amazed by the beauty of our landscape, but it is easy to miss if you do not pause to give it your attention. I'm so glad you had that moment. We need to take the time to have more of them. XOXO

I hate going to the grocery in the rain but, like you, it always seems to start. On the bright side, communities could hire me and you to stop droughts!

Did you detect any "southern" accent when we spoke on the phone? I try not to say DAWG or GAWD and to watch my "i"s. Can't help but drop the ending "g"s on ALL things though.

I've learned (again) that winter clothes take up three times the space of summer clothes. The extra insult comes when you have to layer on a coat over all of that and can't squish behind the steering wheel!

Number 8 made me laugh and then go hmm.

I love southern accents too! We go on vacation each year to Kentucky and I end up talking like them to understand them! And they talk so freaking slow compared to us in Chicago! It takes me a week to slow down just to speed up again. Sigh.

Puppies licking is a gross sound!

I'm live in GA, but I was an Army Brat. I have adapted a slight southern accent and I STILL find myself getting a kick of of some of the southern accents I hear!

I've learned as a transplanted Yankee in a southern world that I like saying ya'll better than you guys.

I love that car place. A limo ride home! Get out of the city : ) That is the coolest! I just bought some old issues of Life and I LOVE them.

I love learning from you and how you see the world.

I agree about the coupons. I always buy junk I don't need just so I can save $.54 cents... : )

That's a great post. I love the experience of noticing the surrounding beautiful. I consider myself a nature watcher! LOL... The colors, sky, stars, sun, plants - almost everything catches my attention. What I've learned this week? Changing medications can be a good thing after you get over the bad part of it.
