Things I've Learned Thursday

1) Never microwave caramels in a plastic container unless you want a hot, sticky mess all over the microwave and counter tops.

2) Chocolate covered cinnamon bears are the perfect fall snack!

3) Veterinarians should charge for their services by the pound of the animal. Single Boo's kitty, Amelie weighs barely a pound. For something so small, her appointment was a bit on the pricey side.

4) Never watch a scary movie (one that you claim is pretty corny) and then get lost in some dark mountains, climbing in the middle of nowhere. You will start seeing Godzilla, King Kong, Chucky and the clown, It. Note to self...laughing is so much better than crying.

5) A good book is one with characters that come alive. I'm reading a manuscript right now that has the perfect combination. Look out publishers, it's on it's way!

6) Elderly people are so cute! I hope that I'm a cute old person!

7) I know this is going to be one of the most stupidest comments and I promise...I'm not saying this to be funny...but squirrels make NOISE. I didn't realize they did until one of them cursed at Sam, my puppy.

8) Cleaning off my hard drive is worse than cleaning out my closets. So much unneeded junk!!

9) Why do some people find it so utterly amazing that I don't curse? It's not a big deal...I just don't have a need for it. Personally, cursing is plain old overrated!

AND.....The biggest thing I learned this week is....

10) I got a job! The job is 20 hours a week for hopefully, a few weeks with the intent of it being full time in the future. (Hopefully, the NEAR future.) That's the part that I'm nervous about. Although I'll be making almost half the amount I was making at my previous job, I am honestly blessed to have the opportunity. I won't start until the 29th. I'll be in administrative support which is something I've done in the past. Thanks for all of your prayers. I will never look at having a job the same way again.

What have you learned?

Oh, Simone...I'm SO happy for you!! But I must admit when I first read it I thought, "Uh oh...there goes Saturday!" Hahaha! And you said you pass that restaurant on the way to Goodwill?! I'm in need of some jeans, lol. Maybe you can show me where it is after breakfast. Maybe we have some serious shopping ahead of us, too! :)

I don't curse, either. When I'm REALLY upset the worst I say is, "Oh, you dirty bird!" LOL!

Hooray for the job! That is GREAT news!!

Squirrels can be very silly--they chatter and shake their tail at intruders to scare them away and they wrestle with their siblings for fun. I love to watch them wrestling and chasing each other all over the yard!

I wish I didn't curse. NOT a good habit and it is very, very hard to break once you have uttered those words.

Congrats on the job Simone! I hope you enjoy the work and have some kind, friendly co-workers. Good luck! I didn't know squirrles cursed! Yikes on the caramels!

I learned not to ever give my daughter M&M's because they do in fact melt in your hand, not in your mouth when you're a three year old.... in fact they melt all over the place!

Have a great day!

Hooray for the job! I'm so happy for you. I agree that swearing is not necessary and elderly people are cute!
The microwave caramel episode sounds awful!
PS - you should know that the book 'The Help' is still being passed around. Nearly every person who has read it tells me it's probably the best book they ever read!

Congratulations, Simone! Best of luck to you.

I love old people, too. The two of us can be cute old ladies together. Well, I'll be a little older...

THINGS I KNOW:

Squirrels are indeed, VERY noisy - especially when they are on our windowsill trying to get Joe's attention.

I wish you were an agent, then my manuscript would stand a chance of being published: and thank you.

I'm trying to become a "cute" old person now. I've given up trying to be a younger person: (that is NOT cute at my age)

Sadly, I hope you like cute old women who cuss like a sailor. (it keeps me from being a DRUNK old woman and that's never cute)

I've learned I love you and wish I could be more like you.

Things I've learned? Well, a few.

1. That you've got a job. Congratulations! I hope it turns full-time.

2. That you and Miss Kris have had a chance to meet. Wonderful!

3. That if you like "chocolate covered cinnamon bears" I should probably not get too close to you after I've been making brownies.

4. If vets charged by the pound, I'd very quickly go broke. Her Ladyship, Miss Sadie, weighs 50 pounds, and she is not fat. She's just big!

5. That I should visit you more often.

Way to go on the new job!!! Very exciting news!

And yeah I've heard squirrels make noise. Back in college, we had a courtyard area we would sit in and study. The squirrels would come right up to us and beg for food. God forbid we only had enough food for just one squirrel...the other squirrels would squeal and make all kinds of racket. They were not afraid to show anger.

SO glad about the job. That was indeed GREAT news! Congrats!!!

found you through vodka mom- i don't curse either! (mostly!)ha! people don't understand it but i don't understand what's so strange about it! i'm not a weirdo that says "poppycock!", i just don't say anything. i say "man that lady was nasty!" instead of "that effin biotch!" iit's not natural to me. plus i work with children and have my own children so it's just never been part of my vocabulary.
