Things I've Learned Thursday

1) Sam, my shih tzu with one eye can SEE! After a trip to the vet, we were told that his eye is retracting from the light enough for the nerves to send signals to the brain. Although we don't know how much he can see, he can SEE!!

2) After watching the documentary, Food, Inc. I can honestly say that I'm going to shop more at Trader Joe's and Fresh and Easy. I won't become a vegetarian but I will have more veggie oriented meals.

3) I'm getting so tired of food recalls. Lettuce??? Eventually, the only safe thing to eat will be food grown here at home.

4) Summer is here when out comes the pool for Humble to play in. It also signals that the tile floors will be difficult to keep clean for the next 4 months.

5) I never thought I'd say this but I'm burned out on grits. When I ask Boo what he'd like for me to fix to eat, it never fails, he says, "Grits". So sad too...I used to love grits.

6) I'm really loving people with accents, although I still am accent challenged. Be it a foreign accent a Southern or Bostonian accent...I find myself practicing how to say certain words.

7) Naked to a three year means Daddy having his shirt off. Boo put Baby Boo in her car seat with his shirt off. She says, "Daddy, why you naked? You not 'pose to be naked outside."

8) I must have no sense of humor because I have yet to laugh at Geico's tv commercials. They just aren't funny.

9) I wish I could be a kid for just 15 minutes. I'm in need of having a tantrum. You know the feeling...like you want to jump and down, scream, roll on the floor, yell and cry and then pound your fists on the floor until you get your way??? I just need a good ol' tantrum.

10) After listening to a recent interview on tape with an author, I realize that I always say, "Buh bye" before I hang up? I think I'm getting an accent.

What have you learned?

So happy for Sam. I wasn't sure I wanted to watch Food, Inc. but I am now shopping at Trader Joe's and making sure I buy free range when I can. Oprah had a great show on it, I learned so much. I like accents too. I bowl with a woman who was born & raised in France.
I just love listening to her talk.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I too am getting tired of all the recalls. Perhaps if we grew most of the food here we would be more careful of what goes on and what is near the food that is grown.

I just wish I had more backyard to grow my own cause nothing tastes better!

Hooray for Sam! I bet you are feeling pretty good about his vision, too.

When the only safe food is the food grown at home...I will be doomed. I can grow a lot of things, but a garden doesn't seem to be one of them. I get it going great and then every time, it's like hitting a wall and everything starts dying off. :P

I've always been fascinated with accents and regional dialects. I wish there were a job or career that I could have involving those things. I lived in Mississippi for a few years, and picked up the accent accidentally, but I think it's mostly gone, now, unless I talk to people from there.

I love what you've learned. I haven't seen Food Inc. but I am pretty aware of what is good food, and I buy lots of good stuff at a local natural foods store, Whole Foods and Trader Joes. I always buy cage free eggs cuz the chickens get to walk around :)
Happy to hear your little doggie can see!

I learned that little 3-year olds also love Clay Aiken's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and would ask to play it again and again!

I also don't find Geico commercials funny! Or most TV in general!

I have learned that it's hard to let others take care of you when you are used to taking care of yourself and those around you.

I have learned that just when I think my two year old is worried about my health, she really just wants to steal my bed sheets, crackers and applesauce! :)

I have learned that although I feel like mostly dog crap from surgery right now, it will get better and I'm still very lucky!

After I watched Food, Inc. I could hardly eat anything for about four weeks. No Trader Joe's here in Nebraska, but I'll be heading east next week where I will stock up at TJ's and IKEA! And Nordstrom's. And Macy's. And MAC. And Urban Outfitters. And...

Funny thoughts! Well I did learn something new at which am perfecting my newfound skill: That is the self-checkout terminal at the supermarket. It is quite fun!!!! But I only use it for just a few items, not my mega grocery list. xoxo

I've learnt that whenever something is within my budget, chances are that I hate it. The things I covet are always wayyyy too expensive!!

No fair!

Have a nice day, Simone!

You watched FOod, Inc???? I just watched it on Earth Day. I have been vegetarian ever since and am shopping almost exclusively at Whole Foods and Farmer's Markets. Buying lots of organic, and also sharing 1/2 a cow with a friend from a local farm. The cow is grass fed and grazes normally. THe rest of my fam isn't going vegetarian. We are eating mostly fish for now...but hubs still eating chicken, meat, etc...he won't watch the documentary, but I am telling everyone I know about it.

Everything we put into our bodies is suspect. We found out last year that our town was mixing well water with city water and it was contaminated with vinyl chloride--dry cleaning solvents! Long term damage and cancer risk?? who knows. Scary being that I was pregnant and raised my kids on that water. So you think the food is bad. Ugh.

Go ahead and have your tantrum. I'd wait until everyone left the house or they may think you've lost it all together :)

I love the fact that you take the time and reflect on the things God teaches us.

Sleep is so good for the body and soul.
After 10 years of not sleeping thru the night I no longer dread going to bed!

LOL, I told my sister about your dog, since she has a shih tzu too and she called your dog, "a one eyed ish". I had to laugh but she was wrong. Glad he can see.

Oh my goodness. The naked thing is too funny : )
LOVE the fact that you never laugh at Geico commercials. I have said a million times that I don't think they are funny either...
Glad the puppy can see out of at least one eye : )
